    • 4. Authorship <ul><li>Why is this important? </li></ul>
    • 5. Authorship <ul><li>Authorship credit should be based on </li></ul><ul><li>substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data </li></ul><ul><li>drafting or revising article critically for important intellectual content </li></ul><ul><li>final approval of version to be published. </li></ul><ul><li>Authors should meet conditions 1, 2, and 3. </li></ul>
    • 6. Authorship <ul><li>When large, multi-center group has conducted work, they should identify individuals who accept direct responsibility for manuscript </li></ul><ul><li>All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship, and all those who qualify should be listed </li></ul>
    • 7. Authorship <ul><li>Acquisition of funding, collection of data, or general supervision of research group, alone, does not justify authorship </li></ul><ul><li>Each author should have participated sufficiently in work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of content </li></ul>
