    • #GSBS2013 | Pecha Kucha Festival | Kuala Lumpur, 2013
    • “University institutions have already started researching social business and this relationship has evolved. However, we still need to do better research to add to the debate for the discipline. We have the tea but to be useful we need it to be infused: more challengers, more knowledge transfer, more people to engage and also people to give their ideas. We have lots of partnerships between universities all over the world. They understand now that they have to collaborate to the people that actually do things on the ground.” CAM DONALDSON YUNUS CHAIR ON SOCIAL BUSINESS AND HEALTH

    • “Imagine you are off grid. What would you do? You would walk for kilometers to recharge your phone. Imagine the people at BOP who have no batteries. They need batteries and people make them pay a lot to do this. Fairwind is a really cheap form of solar panel. We exist because of energy poverty and also the increase of technology. We are looking for financial help for a serial production pilot in Nepal and to create more innovation.” WOLFGANG FUEREST FAIRWIND

    • “YUNUS CENTRE SOCIAL BUSINESS DESIGN LAB turns the business into reality. This is a business plan competition. The projects are selected then submitted to the Design Lab. One example is an emedical lab to help people find good doctors around themselves as it is hard to find good doctors in Bangladesh. So, we helped this idea launch. We are focusing in problem solving. And we need deep thinkers to help us solve those problems.” LABIB TARAFDAR YUNUS CENTRE SOCIAL BUSINESS DESIGN LAB

We use the money we generated here to found a project for education for children. Our impact: generated job opportunities, helped children for education. ” CYRILLE VILLARD IDG group Texeurop Company

In Japan there is a very low employment rate for handicaped people, the same for old people. We have people who work part time to make door to door sales. ” JAPAN SOCIAL BUSINESS IDEA COMPETITION HINAMOROKO

    • “What is a social business city? We created a social business chair in Wiesbaden along with Prof Yunus and social entrepreneurs at Dialogue in the dark. Several projects have been initiated and launched within the framework of this city: - Lalaland: a place for single mothers, where they can gather with other mothers, and purchase baby products - A coworking space: young entrepreneurs and freelancers can work, collaborate and seek advice - Mammu: a social business that commercialize scarfs done by single Latvian mothers - Variomondo: a place selling fair trade products. The YY street in Wiesbaden has images are painted in the street and people can meet for social business activities. Prof Yunus came to Wiesbaden, where the Grameen Creative Lab was created with the help of MakeSense gang for a great event to present social business to all citizens. The concept of social business cities is spreading all over the world: it has been exported to Italy, Japan and Brazil. We have the responsibility to lead. ’’ DOMINIQUE DAUSTER WIESBADEN: SOCIAL BUSINESS CITY

    • “ Every year 1 billion children die because of not having access to proper sanitation. We created the world toilet day to bring this subject about people. We made the movement in a funny and creative way and completely open-sourced it. Everybody celebrates it. It went viral because we did not control our idea but let people choose what they do. Even Matt Damon did a nice and funny video about toilet. A viral thing can happen as long as you let it go and let people to own it. Now world toilet day is now UN World Toilet day. The next World Toilet Day will be November 19th. ” JACK SIM UN WORLD TOILET DAY AND SHANISHOP CONCEPT

    • “Like Professor Yunus said this morning we met wonderful people. We learned how we can work together as young challengers and what we can do together after GSBS 2013. We learned how we could work with business leaders and create sustainable business models models together. From these advices, we created, in only 90 minutes, an online platform to find mentors, advice or to solve any of our challenges because we are young challengers. This platform would be a way to connect young challengers to current Social Business leaders through email and also video chat or online posts. The mission of this project is to connect the young to expertise, share knowledge and experiment. ’’ YOUNG CHALLENGERS
