Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time-Second Reading- Hebrews 4:12-13 - Presentation Transcript

    1.
      • Brothers and sisters:
      • 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
      • 13 And before him no creature is hidden, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
      • Often times we hear people say the Bible was a book written 2000 years ago that has no relevance in today’s world.
      • Such a statement could not be further from the truth.
      • Hebrews 4:12 tells us “For the word of God is living and active.”
      • The lessons taught in the Bible are just as valuable today as they were 2000 years ago.
      • Thinking about having an affair?
      • Read to story of King David and Bathsheba to discover what will come of your affair.
      • For a few moments of lust you will destroy years of trust and divide your family, is that worth it?
      • I hope you’re mature enough to say it isn’t.
      • Thinking about lying?
      • Think about what happened to those who lied in the Bible.
      • Yes, the words of God are just as valuable today as they were 2000 years ago.
      • The demands placed upon us by His word are sometimes difficult to deal with.
      • They demand us to make a decision to do good or evil.
      • Moral persons can’t sit on the fence, a decision must be made so you can stand on one side of the fence.
      • The word of God must
      • live within us and shape our lives.
      • Nothing can be hidden from God.
      • God sees all we do and what we think.
      • What is really powerful is that God knows our faults and failings yet he still loves us beyond all telling and when we are in need of correction this loving parent is their to guide us through our self-created troubles.
