When we think of law we typically think of something that prevents us from having fun. In reality that is a false statement because the law provides us with guidelines that free us from doing evil and helps us to do good. God’s law is the light to our path rather than shackles that restrain us. God’s laws points to danger the same way parents point out dangers to their children. Your children might ignore you but in time they will come to trust your judgment. The unfortunate consequences of them ignoring your advice is the judgments they bring on themselves. The Bible tells us the stories of Saul’s pride leading to his downfall, of David’s lust which led to murder, and the Pharisee’s arrogance which led to their demise. God’s law lights our path to freedom.
