Fourth Sunday of Advent – Hebrews 10:5-10 - Presentation Transcript
Behold, I come to do your will.
4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.
5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body you have prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,’ as it is written of me in the roll of the book.”
8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law),
9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He abolishes the first in order to establish the second.
10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

In reading this passage don’t you get the feeling that this is a conversation between the Father and the Son on the eve preceding Jesus birth in Bethlehem?
It was God who prepared a body for all of us.
As God himself said in Jer. 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you;
Even the first Adam didn’t become a living soul until God gave him the breath of life.
Now the second Adam, the human part of Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem, will have the breath of life given to him by the Father.
Now the first sacrificial system is gone and has been replaced by the New Covenant’s Perfect sacrifice, Jesus.
