    First Sunday of Advent, Gospel Luke 21:25-28, 34-36 - Presentation Transcript

    1. The Son of Man will come in power and glory.
      • 25 “ And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,
      • 26 men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
      • 27 And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
      • 28 Now when these things begin to take place, look up
      • and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
      •  34  “ But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare;
      • 35 for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth.
      • 36 But watch at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of man.”
      The Holy Bible : Revised Standard Version Second Catholic edition (2006), with the ecclesiastical approval of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Thomas Nelson Publishing for Ignatius Press.
      • Worried about the coming end of the world?
      • Don’t, that’s right don’t worry about it if you are living in Godly ways.
      • I just returned from a funeral and Darryl's end of the world came about a week ago.
      • He like every other person in the world had his persecutions and trials.
      • People and tabloids have been predicting the end of the world for as long as I can remember.
      • All of us, just like Darryl will die and our worldly experience will be over or Christ will make his second coming and again our worldly experience will be over.
      • For the majority of us we won’t know when the end of earthly life will come, it just comes.
      • Our mission is complete and now the Father will call us home.
