All Saints Day – Psalm 24:1-2, 3-4, 5-6 - Presentation Transcript
Lord, this is the people who long to see your face .
1 The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein;
2 for he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers.
3 Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
The Holy Bible : Revised Standard Version Second Catholic edition (2006), with the ecclesiastical approval of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Thomas Nelson Publishing for Ignatius Press.
Self-deception
Because “the earth is the Lord’s,” all of us are stewards, or caretakers.
We should be committed to taking care of this world and its resources.
We are not to become devoted to anything created or act as sole proprietors because this world will pass away (1 John 2:17).
Without honesty, a relationship with God is impossible.
If we lie to others, we will begin to deceive ourselves.
God cannot hear us or speak to us if we are building a wall of self-deception.
We need to ask God’s forgiveness.
