Wind and Solar Communications Node
What is it?
An inexpensive communications network that brings internet connectivity to remote locations. Nodes are powered by a home-built wind turbine and a solar panel which enables WiFi and VOIP connectivity.
Applications
- Internet connectivity for 3rd world countries
- Weather and trail condition information for hikers in National Parks
- Aid disaster recovery where infrastructure has been destroyed
The project is located between RIT’s building 78 and the Red Barn.
