My Trailer My teaser trailer is going to be for a horror film. The storyline will be that a modern day woman moves into an old Victorian house and is subsequently plagued by paranormal occurrences. She later finds out that the house used to be an orphanage and that it is haunted by the children who used to live (and died) there. The film will be a British horror film, this goes against the norm because nowadays most horror films of this nature are American – For example The Haunting in Connecticut or Paranormal Activity. The film will be filmed from the woman's point of view so that they can see what happens from her side of the story, thus allowing the audience to sympathise with the main character. The above image is a screenshot from, “The Haunting in Connecticut.” The main character of my trailer will be a woman similar to this.
The use of old photographs+ Filming Locations In the film trailer there will be several flashes of still shots of old photographs. These photographs belong to myself as they are old family photographs. In addition to this the trailer will be filmed in several locations. All the filming will be done in interior locations which have been made up to look like an old fashioned house.
My Target Audience My film will be named at both males and females aged between 18 – 25 as my research has lead me to believe that people of this age group are the main target audience for most horror films. The target audience will be people who have watched similar horror films such as, “The Haunting in Connecticut,” or, “Paranormal Activity.” To find out more about my target audience you can view my earlier presentation on my target audience at: http://daniella141.wordpress.com/2010/10/29/research-into-potential-target-audience/ (Below are pictures of audience reactions from the viewing of the first Paranormal Activity film. They are similar to what my target audience will be).
Appearance and Sound The trailer will be filmed in the third person but showing events from the main characters point of view. In other words it will follow the events of the main characters. Most of the sound for the trailer will be done as a voiceover so that viewers can easily follow the narration of the trailer and fully understand the storyline, whereas if I had used dialogue they might find it difficult to understand. I may also add non-diegetic lullaby sound into the background of the film trailerin order to build up an eerie feel.
