  3. 3. Before I Entered the store.. Does the store draw you in? If so how ?  Yes the store draws me in due to the smell of the bakery products specially the “shawarma.” Is the door open or closed?  It is closed How does this make you feel?  It makes me feel good. I don’t like shops having doors open all the time.
  4. 4. Before I Entered the store.. How big is the sign lettering and in what font?  It says “Ayaans Bakers” written in big English font. That lights up during the night. What does it tell you about the store?  It tells me that the shop sells bakery products
  5. 5. Environment What is the color scheme of the store? How does this affect you?  The color scheme is yellowish. Which gives a soothing affect during winters. What type of the floor does the store have?  The floor has tiles which looks beautiful and clean.
  6. 6. Environment How high is the ceiling?  The ceiling is almost 13 ft high. It gives a good look to store. How brightly lit the store is ?  The store is filled with lights. Every eatable is easily visible to customers. How loud is the environment?  The environment is not at all loud and is peaceful.

Environment Does the store have a distinct smell?  Yeah the store has a distinct smell of different eatables. Where is the cash register located?  The cash register is located at the center of the shop as shown in image. How visible is the store security?  The security is not visible. There are hidden cameras.
  8. 8. Environment How long do you want to stay in the shop?  There are a lot of good eatables so I want to stay here forever. Does the environment influence the perceived value of merchandise?  Yes it does.

Personal How long does it take before a salesman initiates contact?  The sales person contacts almost immediately. Does the salesman treat different customers differently?  No, the sale man treats every customer in a similar manner. What is the ratio of sales person to customers?  There are 3 sales person. And customers come in different numbers but are managed easily
  10. 10. Personal What age and gender are the employees?  They are all male and around 25-30 years old. Do the sale person have uniform?  There is no particular uniform. Do the sales people match the store’s image?  No they don’t.
  11. 11. Products What is the first product you notice?  The first product I notice are the things placed in the displaying shelf. How are the products arranged?  Products are arranged by function. What products are at eye level?  Products that are expensive yet tasty are at eye level.
  12. 12. Products Are prices of products easy to find?  Yes, there is a list given of each product that is offered. One can find the price in it without any problem Are there impulse items near the cash register?  Yes there are impulse items near the cash register.
  13. 13. Customers Are customers alone or with someone else?  Rarely a customer is alone. But most of the times they come in groups (friends, family etc) What is the average age and gender of customers?  Its very dynamic. But mostly I noticed that youngster were in a greater number. And the male outnumbered females.
  14. 14. Customers How long do they stay in the shop?  They stay for 10-15 mins on average. Do customers touch the products? Is this encouraged?  Customers can touch some products placed in the fridge shown. But most products can not be touched. It is encouraged though.
  15. 15. Customers Do customers appear to be on a mission or are they browsing?  Mostly they are just browsing. What percent of customers purchase the product in store?  Roughly 98% of people leave shop after buying something. There were very few cases of customer leaving empty handed.

  17. 17. Before I Entered the store.. Does the store draw you in? If so how ?  No the store doesn’t draw me in unless I have to get something from it. Is the door open or closed?  The door is open How does this make you feel?  It makes me feel bad. I like shops with closed doors.
  18. 18. Before I Entered the store.. How big is the sign lettering and in what font?  It says “C-mart” written in big English font. That lights up during the night. What does it tell you about the store?  It tells me that the shop is some sort of general store.
  19. 19. Environment What is the color scheme of the store? How does this affect you?  The color scheme is white. It makes everything bright and clear. I like it. What type of the floor does the store have?  The floor has big tiles which looks beautiful and clean.
  20. 20. Environment How high is the ceiling?  The ceiling is almost 15 ft high. It gives a good look to store. How brightly lit the store is ?  The store is filled with lights. Each product is easily visible. How loud is the environment?  The environment is noisy due to the rush of customers.

Environment Does the store have a distinct smell?  No the store does not have a distinct smell. Where is the cash register located?  Two cash registers are located right at the exit of the store.. How visible is the store security?  There is a guard inside the shop. There are also hidden cameras.
  22. 22. Environment How long do you want to stay in the shop?  I don’t want to stay long in the shop due to the noise. Does the environment influence the perceived value of merchandise?  Yes it does.

Personal How long does it take before a salesman initiates contact?  The sales person never contacts you unless you call him. Does the salesman treat different customers differently?  No, the sale man treats every customer in a similar manner. What is the ratio of sales person to customers?  There are 2 sales person. The customers outnumber the sales person. So one has to wait in a queue.
  24. 24. Personal What age and gender are the employees?  One male. One female. The ages are around 22-25 Do the sale person have uniform?  There is no particular uniform. Do the sales people match the store’s image?  Yes they do match the store’s image.

Products What is the first product you notice?  The first product I notice are the biscuits and chocolates. How are the products arranged?  Products are arranged according to their function. What products are at eye level?  Products at eye level are Snacks, Chocolates, Dairy Products.

  32. 32. Before I Entered the store.. How big is the sign lettering and in what font?  It says “Cutting Saloon” written in small English font. What does it tell you about the store?  It tells me that the shop is about hair cutting.
  33. 33. Environment What is the color scheme of the store? How does this affect you?  The color scheme is white. So that cutting could be done easily. What type of the floor does the store have?  The floor has tiles. So that its easy to clean the hair.
  34. 34. Environment How high is the ceiling?  The ceiling is almost 11 ft high. It makes the lights closer so that cutting is easy. How brightly lit the store is ?  The store is very brightly lit. How loud is the environment?  The environment is calm. And Music is playing on the TV.

Environment Does the store have a distinct smell?  The store has a smell of different aftershave bottles and shaving cream. Where is the cash register located?  There is no cash register in the shop. Money is handed over to person directly. How visible is the store security?  There is no security in this shop.

Personal How long does it take before a salesman initiates contact?  The salesman makes contact after a few minutes. Does the salesman treat different customers differently?  No, the sale man treats every customer in a similar manner. What is the ratio of sales person to customers?  Sales person are 4 and customer number is random.

  41. 41. Customers Are customers alone or with someone else?  Mostly the customer is alone. What is the average age and gender of customers?  Average age of customer is 24. No females come in the shop.
  42. 42. Customers How long do they stay in the shop?  They stay for 30 mins on average. Do customers touch the products? Is this encouraged?  Customers don’t touch the products.
  43. 43. Customers Do customers appear to be on a mission or are they browsing?  Customer appear to be on a mission. What percent of customers purchase the product in store?  100% customers utilize the services offered by the barber.

Lessons This assignment help me learned many new things It showed me that if I pay attention I can see things I never saw before. I can note small things that are not important to many people and improve them. Its all about how much attention you are ready to pay. And it will unfold a lot of opportunities for you.
