      • Your layout should be taking shape - at least on Sandbox site
      • You will be playing with plugins and seeing what they’re capable of
      • Your hosting will have been sorted and main site will be ready
    • 3. Security
      • Secure WordPress – Little more piece of mind.
      • Limit Login Attemps – 2 tries and your out
      • VaultPress – Works in the background backing us up ’round the clock. No complaints.
      • WP Security Scan - Perform security scan of WordPress installation.
    • 4. Maintenance / Construction
      • Maintenance Mode - Adds a splash page to your blog that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenance. Logged in administrators get full access to the blog including the front-end. Navigate to Settings ? Maintenance Mode to get started.
      • Under Construction - allows you to add a more designed HTML landing page.
    • 5. Branding
      • Style sheet: font, logo, colour scheme
      • Images at 72 dpi, resized for page
      • Creating a tiny 16px square for Favicon ( WP Favicon )
      • Custom Login Logo Lite – Nice way of customising your backend gateway
    • 6. Editorial process
      • Subbing process, section editors, assigning and checking copy
      • Edit Flow: Really useful for organising the editorial workflow process
      • Assignment Desk : News pitch and story tools for local news blogs.
      • User Role Editor - Assign roles for different users - particularly useful to get more of an editorial process shape and also good for allowing writers ability to upload pictures etc.
      • After The Deadline - subbing check
    • 7. Page order - sections
      • My Category Order, My Page Order, Custom Taxonomy Sort.
      • Post Mash - Drag and drop Ajax post re-ordering widget - needs some fiddling with the template.
      • Ultimate Category Excluder - Really simple tool for taking certain posts out of main editorial flow.
      • Blog in Blog - perfect solution if you want to have several blog post lists - say a page with just entertainment stories. Good HTML and CSS options.
    • 8. Social integration: Comment and Interaction
      • Disqus Comment System – Very pleased with Disqus. Looked great right out of the box.
      • Socialize – Nice call to action at the end of each post. I’ve tried most of them. Do check it works with the theme as it has knocked some my sites over
      • TF Social Share - Simple buttons quite flexible can add to different areas- not flash
      • Sharaholic/ sexy bookmarks - flash with pop up buttons also have extra like and + buttons
    • 9. Social: Facebook
      • Easy Facebook Like Button - The simplest way to add Facebook Like Buttons to your WordPress blog. One click setup and start getting Facebook likes for posts on your blog.
      • Facebook Fan Box - via FB site widgets themselves
      • FB Foundations - FB functionality
      • Simple Facebook Connect –Posts new articles to our Facebook fan page and and useful for Facebook integration

      • WP to Twitter
      • TwitCategory - Announces new posts (from a selected category) on twitter.

      • Soundcloud: easily embeddable from shortcode not flash
      • Podcasting: Blueberry

      • Podpress: That one I'm currently using in Funtch - good at prepping the podcasts with all the metadata it needs for iTunes.
    • 13. Multimedia: Video
      • SmartYouTube - simple to use resize mechanism "Smart Youtube is a Wordpress Youtube Plugin that allows you to easily insert Youtube videos/playlists in your post, comments and in RSS feed.
      • Viper's Video Quicktags - Visual editor customisation from every video sharing site - particularly good at standardising the video pages
      • WP YouTube Lite - defaults to HTML 5 not Flash so quicker download time (can be used with Smart YouTube but with different short codes)
      • Easy Tube - Plugin to easily place YouTube objects in Wordpress Content - again more visual editor friendly
    • 14. Mobile
      • WPTouch Pro –None is perfect, but WPTouch is the best. Our site looks great on an iPad without switching themes, and thankfully WPTouch leaves it “unTouched” for ‘Pads. ** simple conversion but easy solution - BCU
      • WordPress Mobile Edition - Show your mobile visitors a site presentation designed just for them. Rich experience for iPhone, Android, etc. and clean simple formatting for less capable mobile browsers.
    • 15. SEO
      • All in One SEO Pack - Out-of-the-box SEO for your Wordpress blog.
      • SEO Friendly Images – Adds metas where we would have never taken the time to.
      • SEO Ultimate – Very happy with this SEO solution. The plugin gets updated very frequently, which can be a hassle. But it’s solid and works well. Best part is you can disable the modules you don’t want to use and not look at them again.
    • 16. Analytics
      • Stats - Tracks views, post/page views, referrers, and clicks. Requires a API key or Jetpack
      • Google Analyticator - Adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google's Analytics. After enabling this plugin visit the settings page and enter your Google Analytics' UID and enable logging.
      • WP Google Analytics - Lets you use Google Analytics to track your WordPress site statistics
