  • Since 1993, Binary Tree and our partners have helped over 4,000 customers migrate more than 15,000,000 users. We’ve lead some of the largest migrations in the worldOur software has helped to migrate more users from Lotus to BPOS and Microsoft Online than any other softwareWe have unparalleled domain expertise on Lotus Notes and MicrosoftAlso, as you can see at the bottom of the slide, we are key partners with Microsoft, IBM and Google…and we’ve been recognized in the exclusive Inc 500 and Inc 5000 lists of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies, for 3 years in a row.
  • This slide is to give and overview and review each of the BT offerings. More detail will be covered throughout the day.
  • There are several consideration associated with Migrations to Microsoft Online (BPOS-S). Traditional on premise migrations provide the customer a higher sense of control and ownership of the process. This does require a significant investment into hardware, software, and staffing to manage the Exchange migration. With a hosted migration there is still a level of control provided to the customer but this almost entirely eliminates the customer investment of hardware, software, and staffing. For general migrations, an on premise migration may be suitable for a gradual migration from Domino to BPOS. For rapid migrations the only way to move forward would be through a Host migration.Rapid

  • Proven Migration Methodology
A Comprehensive Best Practices Approach to Coexistence & Migration
This is an overview of a best practices methodology for reducing costs, effort, and business disruptionswhen transitioning from Lotus Notes and Domino to the Microsoft platform or to Microsoft Online.
Prior to migration, carefully PLAN and PREPARE your move from a Lotus platform to the Microsoft platform.
Fully inspect and review your Notes and Domino messaging environment to properly prepare a successful approach to coexistence and migration.
Enable Notes and Outlook users to interoperate seamlessly by allowing them to exchange email and calendar invites with full transparency, high fidelity, availability, and performance.
Proper planning, detailed testing, and synchronized execution are all critical for the successful migration of Notes messaging users and environments to Outlook and Exchange.
After the migration, LAUNCH and manage the new MICROSOFT Exchange and SharePoint platform.
    ANALYZE :Email
    COEXIST :Email
    MIGRATE :Email
    PLAN &PREPARE
    LAUNCH& RETIRE
Analyze the Lotus mail and application environment and define a plan that ensures coexistence and a successful migration.
Migrating mail data and applications is the most critical, phase, the end result being your new Microsoft production system.
Establish robust coexistence between the Lotus and Microsoft environments to enable users of each platform to interoperate.
    ANALYZE : Applications
    COEXIST : Applications
    MIGRATE : Applications
Discover in detail how your Notes applications are used and how they work so that you can effectively estimate and plan the efforts to migrate them.
Enable Notes/Domino applications that send Notes specific elements, such as custom forms and buttons, to continue to function properly for Outlook/Exchange users.
Proper planning, detailed testing, and synchronized execution are all critical for the successful migration of Notes and QuickPlace applications to SharePoint, C#, .NET, and SQL Server.
After the migration, clean up, consolidate, and RETIRE the DOMINO environment.

  • Protect the Messaging Workflow of Your Users
Ensure the normal functionality of email between your users
    CMT for Coexistence Messaging Workflow
    • Message threads stay intact regardless of migration status
    • Enables Outlook users to view and interact with embedded graphics, as well as Notes document and database links, the same way Notes users do
    • Makes images pasted in Outlook visible in Notes instead of showing them as “Red-X boxes”
  • Protect the Calendar Workflow of Your Users
Keep your user calendars in sync
    CMT for Coexistence Calendar Workflow
    • Ensures that calendar events between the Notes users and the Outlook users stay in sync regardless of their migration status
    • Applies to creating meetings, updating meetings, rescheduling meetings, cancelling meetings, and evenapplies to changes to complex recurring meetings
    • Prevents calendar corruption when unsupported calendar functions are encountered
  • Protect the Directory Workflow of Your Users
Ensure that user addressing is transparent and functional
    CMT for Coexistence Directory Workflow
    • Establishes directory synchronization between Domino and Exchange
    • Ensures that user addressing is transparent and functional regardless of a user’s migration status
    • Enables Notes and Outlook users to view traditional hierarchical name addresses in their emails and calendar invites rather than confusing SMTP names addressing
    Without CMT for Coexistence…
…easy to understand email addresses before the migration…
…can turn into confusing email addresses during the migration…
  • Protect the Availability Workflow of Your Users
Ensure that users can check invitee availability when scheduling meetings
    CMT for Coexistence Availability Workflow
    • Establishes calendar free/busy lookups between Domino and Exchange
    • Ensures that Notes and Outlook users can obtain calendar free/busy information about other users regardless of which system they are on or regardless of their migration status
  • Protect the Application Workflow of Your Users
Enable Outlook users to act on email-enabled Notes workflow apps
    CMT for Coexistence Application Workflow
The Zero-touch Application Remediation (ZApp) option of CMT for Coexistence 3.0 prevents Notes application failure when users are migrated to Outlook
    • Intercepts mail messages with embedded Notes elements and remediates them for Outlook Users
    • Catches apps with Lotus UI commands that trigger mail messages and ensures they work properly
    • Apps that write to a users Lotus Notes calendar are either fixed or the user is notified with the information in a mail message
Requires no changes to the applications
  • CMT for Coexistence with ZAppWhat is ZApp?
    • Zapp - Zero Touch Application Remediation
    • Unique functionality of CMT for Coexistence that enables seamless support for workflow of legacy Domino Applications during and after messaging migration to Exchange.
    • Process developed and implemented as an advanced part of CMT for Coexistence implementation.
    • Joint effort by customer’s Domino Application Administration team and CMT for Coexistence implementation consultant.
  • CMT for Coexistence with ZAppWhen is ZApp Applicable?
    • When organization migrates mail from Domino to Exchange
    • When legacy Domino Applications remain during and after mail migration until application migration strategy is developed and executed.
    • When Notes Clients are retained on end-user workstations for access to legacy Domino Applications.
    • When legacy Domino Applications send e-mails to migrated Exchange users with custom elements requiring Notes Client to process (buttons, actions, certain hot spots)
    • When legacy Domino Applications interface with Domino mail files to initiate mail actions or store mail or calendar.
  • CMT for Coexistence with ZAppHow does it work?
    • When an e-mail containing a Notes-specific element is sent by a legacy Domino Application to a migrated Exchange user, ZApp component of CMT for Coexistence will recognize and intercept the e-mail.
    • E-mail is stored securely in the transitional Domino Database on Coexistence Domino Server (BTStore)
    • E-mail notification containing a link to the stored e-mail is sent to the Exchange user.
    • When Exchange user clicks on the link, Notes Client is launched and the e-mail stored in BTStore is opened.
  • CMT for Coexistence with ZAppHow does it work?
    • When a legacy Domino Application needs to interface with the mail file for a migrated Exchange user, a special replacement Domino Database is used for multiple migrated users instead of the Domino mail file (BTProxy).
    • Legacy Domino Application activity triggers appropriate action in BTProxy, which results in mail or calendar data being forwarded to the new Exchange mailboxes.
    • Deployment topology for BTStore and BTProxy is coordinated with the Domino Administration staff.
  • CMT for Coexistence ImplementationWhat skills are needed?
    • Strong Expertise in Internet Mail Routing
    • Strong Expertise in Domino Administration:
    • Server Configuration, Mail Routing, SMTP Routing, DB Replication
    • Strong Expertise in Exchange Administration:
