  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Product Management For Version 1 Products: Creating Something from Nothing Hi juki_7: I just tried downloading it and it worked fine. Perhaps it was a temporary SlideShare issue? If you keep running into the same issue, I’d recommend trying with a different browser (Firefox just worked for me). 1 month ago

  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Delicious Ambiguity Nice presentation. I especially like how slide 20 clearly conveys the informational challenge we all face as the Internet grows exponentially 4 months ago
  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Early Stage Web Product Management by Dan Olsen Hi Oo, Thanks for your comment. If I had to recommend one book for usability, it would have to be Steve Krug’s "Don’t Make Me Think" published by New Riders (I actually mentioned that book to the audience when I gave my talk; I plan to add the audio track soon). 4 months ago
  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Early Stage Web Product Management by Dan Olsen Nimit, Thanks for the page about the space pen (very cool to see the detailed specs). Some people say the story is inaccurate because NASA didn’t spend the $1 million on R & D. While that’s technically true, the company that developed the space pen (Fisher) for NASA DID spend $1 million on R & D, as the page you referenced says and as NASA themselves acknowledge here: http://history.nasa.gov/spacepen.html At any rate, the point is not who spent the money or even to criticize the development of the space pen. It’s just a great example to illustrate the difference between product space and solution space, which is an important concept for product managers (and others, as you pointed out) to master. • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on UX Team Of One @ IA Summit 2008 Great presentation! I like how you called out the spectrum, 2x2, and grid (I use them all the time but have never seen them clearly described as a set before). 2 years ago
  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Web 2.0 Product Management by Dan Olsen Thanks. Boxes and arrows is a great site. I saw this article previously, which is what led me to the original ClickTale data at http://blog.clicktale.com/2006/12/23/unfolding-the-fold ClickTale has also released newer data: http://blog.clicktale.com/2007/10/05/clicktale-scrolling-research-report-v20-part-1-visibility-and-scroll-reach/ http://blog.clicktale.com/2007/12/04/clicktale-scrolling-research-report-v20-part-2-visitor-attention-and-web-page-exposure/ 2 years ago
  • Dan Olsen Dan Olsen commented on Web 2.0 Product Management by Dan Olsen Thanks for the comment. It’s not Reid Hoffman, it’s David Reed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_P._Reed His website is http://www.reed.com/dpr/ Note: these laws describe how the maximum theoretical value of networks scale. Several people have given rationale for why the actual value of a network scales at a lesser rate. After you read the info on Reed’s site, here are some other good links on these topics: http://avc.blogs.com/a_vc/2005/09/reeds_law.html http://www.thestalwart.com/the_stalwart/2005/09/metcalfes_law_r.html http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/jul06/4109 http://www.nivi.com/blog/article/between-metcalfes-and-reeds-laws 2 years ago
