  • dan.keldsen Dan Keldsen , Partner at Human 1.0 When I first created a version of this presentation in 2002 while at Delphi Group, I'd initially thought I was already too late to experience or say anything 'new' and relevant. Turns out, I was ahead of my time. When presenting in 2008 at the AIIM show in Boston, had another packed room of 250-300 people, to whom most of this was still 90% new.

Every time I've given this presentation at various conferences, it's been to a packed house, and a heck of a lot of fun to present.

There's more to social networking than simply friending everyone in sight.

There's more to creating a successful internal social network than just installing software.

There are plenty of organizations that shouldn't even attempt to 'do social networking' until they create an environment and culture that won't just destroy any attempts by people to do social networking.

No doubt - if you don't participate in social networking, inside or outside of your organization, you won't receive any of the potential benefits.

You may, in fact, be significantly impacting your business, however, if you chose not to participate at all.

There's a middle ground, however, and it's finding the appropriate ground for your organization that's the real challenge.

The question becomes, then, HOW will you participate? What are you trying to accomplish? Are certain networks better than others, for those purposes? How do you keep your corporate secrets from washing out into the network? Should you care?

It's still relatively early days for online social networking on a massive scale, but there are some best and worst practices that you should be aware of, and not just stumble blindly.

Plenty has been learned already - will you take advantage of lessons learned, or will your company flounder in this 'new media' and abandon before seeing any useful return?

In my role as Principal and Co-founder at Information Architected - I am always open to
Discuss, Debate, Consult and Educate your needs and concerns regarding social networking from an enterprise point of view.

Social networking has made a huge positive impact on me as an individual, and in carrying across benefits through the positions I've held and work I've done for clients in the last 7 years.

How can I help YOU make the most of social networking?

Don't hesitate to get in touch.
