  2. 2. Aptly described as “the SMS of the internet”Twitter allows masses of people to share small140 character messages to each other. Youcan subscribe to anything or anyone andreceive their messages.Twitter.  
  3. 3. How do I create atwitter account?Step 1.Go to www.twitter.com
  4. 4. Step 2.Your username has to be original/unique but it can be changed atanytime.Untick the box that says tailor twitterbased on recent website visits.You can now click create my account.
  5. 5. Step 3.You canfollow theTwitterprompts toget a tour ofthe site.
  6. 6. testTo activate your account you need to follow 5 people. Have a look around and maybe you will find someone interesting to follow. Click on the ‘Follow’ button to select 5 people. Then click the next button… Then click on a category, select another 5 people. The blue progress bar will fill up as you add followers until you are able to clicknext again.
  7. 7. Twitter will suggestother accounts foryou to follow basedon topics.
  8. 8. If you want toexplore theworld of Twitteryou can see ifany of youremail contactshave an accountusing Twitter’ssearch function. Or you can clickskip in thebottom leftcorner…
  9. 9. Now you will need to follow the link sent toyour email address to confirm your account.
  10. 10. The next step is topopulate your profilewith a picture and ashort bio that will looklike this.
  11. 11. You can follow accounts that you findinteresting and receive their tweets.Users who find your tweets interestingcan also follow you back.Followers & Following?  
  12. 12. The tweets fromthe accounts youfollow will bedisplayed in yourtwitter feed.
  13. 13. Your twitter feed is found in the top leftcorner called home.

Hashtag was named word of the year in 2012by The American Dialect Society… So what doesit actually mean?Hashtag?  A tag embedded in a message posted ontwitter, consisting of word within themessage prefixed with a hash sign #.In laymens terms… it’s a way to grouptogether hundreds of tweets about thesame topic.
  16. 16. To start composing your tweet hit the bluebutton in the top corner of the site or mobileapp.How do I tweet?  
  17. 17. Each tweet allows you to send a public message of140 characters in length.This can be made up of text, web links, photos,hashtags and other twitter accounts.How do I tweet?  E.g.
