  • 4. What are badges?
  • 5. badges = visual representations of a skill or achievement
  • 6. scouting may be the first examplethat comes to mind
  • 7. more and more, we see badges representingachievements on the web
  • 8. some are just for fun or social status
  • 9. but increasingly the skills are real,based on real tasks and work
  • 10. reflecting technical and social abilities --both of which employers are looking for
  • 11. and willing to pay for ➔ jobs
  • 12. What if we used badges for learning?
  • 13. Open learning: Mozilla & P2PU’s School of Webcraft
  • 14. After-school programs: iRemix
  • 15. Museums & Science Centers:American Museum of Natural History
  • 16. Government agencies: NASA
  • 17. Community Organizations: 4-H
  • 18. What if we all used a sharedbadge ecosystem and infrastructure?

  • 21. In this badge ecosystem a badge is morethan just a badge
  • 22. Why do we need this? (or something like it)
