  • What are badges?
  • badges = visual representations of a skill or achievement
  • scouting may be the first examplethat comes to mind
  • more and more, we see badges representingachievements on the web
  • some are just for fun or social status
  • but increasingly the skills are real,based on real tasks and work
  • reflecting technical and social abilities --both of which employers are looking for
  • and willing to pay for ➔ jobs
  • What if we used badges for learning?
  • Open learning: Mozilla & P2PU’s School of Webcraft
  • After-school programs: iRemix
  • Museums & Science Centers:American Museum of Natural History
  • Government agencies: NASA
  • Community Organizations: 4-H
  • What if we all used a sharedbadge ecosystem and infrastructure?
