    •  Get up to date even before you sign in with your new picture password. • Choose which live notifications appear on your lock screen. • Instead of a typed password, swipe or tap a pattern on a custom picture for fast, secure access to your device.     •  Access an app’s settings and extra functionalities with a swipe or click. • To open an app, tap or click the corresponding app tile. • To access app commands in an open app, right-click the app or swipe from the top or bottom of the screen.     •  Access and sort your apps in just a few clicks or taps. • To access a list of all apps on your device, near the bottom of the Start screen, click the down arrow.     •  Find the info, places, and settings you need. • Open the charms from wherever you are: • Swipe in from the right edge of your screen. • With the mouse pointer, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then move down along the edge. • Use the charms to find info with Bing Smart Search, to share your work, and to personalize your settings.     •  Start a Bing Smart Search to find info fast. • Begin a search in one of two ways: • On the Start screen, simply start typing. Select one of the suggestions from your results list, or finish typing the term and then press ENTER. • Open the Search charm. In the search box, enter a search term. Choose one of the suggestions from the results list. • Bing Smart Search delivers results from the both the web and your device—all in a beautiful app-like experience.     •  Instantly find an app by using one of three methods. • On the Start screen, start typing the name of the app that you want to open. • On the Start screen, open Apps view to display all of your apps.     •  Find and connect to wireless networks wherever you travel. • Manage system-wide settings at the bottom of the pane. • Connect to a network, adjust volume and brightness, change notifications and keyboard settings, and access power options.     •  Go to the desktop to access Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and more. • On the Start screen, click or tap the Desktop tile to work on the traditional desktop. • To return to the Start screen, press the WINDOWS key, or click or tap the Start button in the lower-left corner of the screen.     •  Personalize the desktop with a favorite photo or a slide show of your own pictures. • From the desktop, open the Settings charm. • Open Control Panel and use the Appearance and Personalization options to customize your desktop.     •  You can configure Windows to display the desktop as soon as you sign in. • On the desktop, right-click or press and hold the taskbar. • Select Properties. • Open the Navigation tab. • In the Start screen section, you can choose to display your desktop whenever you sign in or close all apps.
