  • With the launch of Office 365 in July our focus is now on continuously evolving the service and underlying platform with ongoing updates and providing major platform enhancements across all services, servers & clients on a predictable rhythm of every 2.5 - 3 years. Our general release cadence is Office 365: Minor updates are quarterly with financially-backed SLAMobile Updates: Occurring annually commensurate with updates to the phone OS and Office updates.Major Releases: Occur every 2.5-3 years, although you have a 12 month window to schedule the actual migration date. For Office 365 and our quarterly cadence, we are always releasing updates to the workloads of SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Lync Online and the Web Apps. In addition, we’ll government certifications (SAS 70 Type I compliance and SAE16 SOC Type II compliance) , global expansion into new markets and some additional updates. On the Mobile roadmap, as just two examples of our commitment to interoperability and multi-platform support two of our most popular applications for getting work done on-the-go, Lync & OneNote, will release new clients in 2011 for Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad and Android phones. Starting in 2012 we will begin preparing our next major upgrade (o15) for release in 2013. This will include upgrades to the services and the major release of a new client. This transformation is the beginning of our journey into the future of productivity is significant and has required substantial changes in how we plan, build & deliver Office. These changes have already resulting in better experiences for our customers including more robust & cohesive platform and a much greater focus on the end-to-end experience of business scenarios verses simply new product features.Let’s talk a little about what ‘Office’ means in this future.
