  • Hi everyone, a very good evening! Thank you so much for taking time to attend University of Bradford Master of Business Administration Preview. My name is Sunantha, and I am the marketing person for MDIS postgraduate programme. Together with me are May and Candy who are the sales consultant for the postgraduate team. I will first start off with an introduction of MDIS, followed by the background of University of Bradford, the course structure and lastly the admission requirements.
  • MDIS is established since 1956, and is Singapore's oldest not-for-profit private educational institute. In terms of education, being established is a very important factor in terms of experience, stability and brand-name. MDIS is expanding both locally and internationally. In Singapore we have 2 learning centres – one is at DG and the other main campus at Stirling Road. We also have a campus in Tashkent and international offices in China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and many other countries. In the pipeline, we are working on our MDIS also has plans for expansion both locally and abroad.
  • From newspaper report 7 July, the 4 yrs plus 1 yr provisional had saw a sharp decline of private schools to only 320 left. As of date, there are only 20 listed edu trust providers with 4 yrs validity- MDIS has two - MDIS College and MDIS.
  • 22 MDIS Hostel is a good showcase of MDIS' financial strength. It is a $80 million project funded entirely by MDIS' own cash reserves, without any aid from other parties such as the government. It would require even more millions to run it for the many years to come. It is now a prominent landmark in the area. This serves as a form of assurance in regards to things like our financial strength, etc.
  • The President officiated the opening of MDIS hostel. This serves as a form of endorsement to MDIS. The idea is, the President will always visit only some of the best and most established 'icons' in Singapore. MDIS has been actively awarding Scholarships and Bursaries through the various self-help groups and organisations, and the government schools. To-date, MDIS and MDIS Education Trust Fund has disbursed more than $3.58 million worth of Scholarships and Bursaries. This is also part of MDIS' committment to Corporate Social Responsibility. Bursaries are disbursed annually to students from Sec Sch, JCs, Polys and ITE With our strong financial contribution to the society, MDIS is not facing any financial difficulties.
  • University of Bradford runs an extensive range of programmes around the world. These are the countries that are alliances with UOB. They run programmes in Europe (with our associate institution TiasNimbas in the Netherlands and Germany), the Middle East, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Some 2,000 students are registered for various awards on our overseas programmes. Over 5,000 students graduated from the Bachelor and MBA from MDIS partnership
  • There are a variety of opportunities available to progress your managerial understanding. However, the results of a survey conducted by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) involving 735 UK based organizations (of various sizes operating in numerous sectors) states that the MBA maintains its strong brand recognition in the workplace, being perceived as a 'high status' qualification. Interestingly though it has been noted that employers are placing increased emphasis on the quality of the qualification students attain. The Bradford University School of Management is ranked as a top 10 UK business school by the Financial Times. The MBA is listed by the Financial Times as one of the world's top 100 MBA all of which underlines the quality of the Bradford MBA.
  • Bradford University School of Management and its MBA programmes are ranked amongst the top 10 in the UK, Top 30 in Europe and top 100 internationally for its FT & PT MBA in the Financial Times Europe Business School rankings 2011.
  • UOB has the prestigious EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) since 2000 which is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. They were among the first business schools in the UK to receive portfolio accreditation for all our MBA programmes from AMBA (Association of MBAs) Confirm our reputation for quality is in place.
  • The Bradford MBA consists of 14 modules and a management project ( thesis ) and can be completed in 2 years of part-time study or 15 months of full time study and students have to finish a management project to graduate. There will be 13 modules with tutorial workshops facilitated by local tutors and classes are conducted twice a week. There will be 2 modules with intensive workshops fully facilitated by faculty from Bradford University UK. Each of these modules consists of a 20-hour workshop conducted over 3 full days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 7. Students can choose to substitute 2 modules from the current Singapore course structure for 2 new modules to be taken via on-campus study in intensive blocks. students usually however study 2 modules every 3 months. Each module is split into 9 units (8 learning units and 1 revision unit). Students are expected to work through 1 unit per module per week. This format ensures that students have a number of weeks at the end of the module for examination revision (if the module is assessed by an exam) assignment work and general recuperation. Through completing 2 modules every 3 months by the end of year 1 students will have studied 8 modules. In year 2, progressing at the same rate, students take the remaining 2 compulsory modules and 4 cycle 2 modules. The completion of these remaining modules takes 9 months. In the final 3 months students start (and can complete) the management project. Many students see the management project as a key part of the MBA experience, putting the skills they have learnt into practice. To facilitate this learning experience we allow students to register for the management project at a time that is convenient to them. Once a student has registered for the management project Bradford will allow the student up to 12 months to complete the project.
  • The programme begins by providing you with a deep knowledge of every aspect of business operation and strategy. The foundation is then built upon to achieve a higher level of understanding, where the intricate relationships between all those key aspects become clear, and you start to approach genuine Big Picture thinking.
  • Notable alumnus of Bradford University is Dr Tan Chin Nam, Chairman of Media Development Authority and former Permanent Secretary. He is a President Scholar and old Raffles Institution boy. He studied for his MBA full-time on campus at Bradford University UK in his youth. He is also a Colombo Plan Scholar and received his bachelor's degree from University of Newcastle Australia. Dr Tan sits on the board of Raffles Education Corporation, a major education group in Singapore
  • The entry criteria is a recognised degree with at least 3 years post-degree work experience in supervisory or managerial level. All applicants will be required to take a short on line test to assess critical thinking and numerical reasoning (the Bradford Test). Applicants with a GMAT of 600+ attained in the last two years do not have to take the Bradford Test.
