### Cylinder Quotes

1. 1. CYLINDER QUOTES
2. 2. Cylinder
A solid body which may be generated by the rotation of a parallelogram round one its sides; or a body of roller like form, of which the longitudinal section is oblong, and the cross section is circular
3. 3. A cylinder is a long, thin shape where the ends are circles. Any cross-section of a cylinder at right angles to its outer surface is also a circle.
Long cylinders are also known as tubes. Pipes are also cylinders. The cylinder you see the most often is, of course, the cardboard tube at the centre of a roll of toilet paper.
4. 4. KINDS OF CYLINDERS:
Hydraulic Cylinder
Air Cylinders
Gas Cylinders
Pneumatic Cylinders
Water Cylinders
5. 5. Hydraulic Cylinder
A Hydraulic cylinder (also called a linear hydraulic motor) is a mechanical actuatorthat is used to give a unidirectional force through a unidirectional stroke. It has many applications, notably in engineering vehicles.
6. 6. Air Cylinders
An air cylinder is usually a cylindrical or tube shaped device that contains a shaft, plunger, and rod.
There are other shapes and sizes, but the tube shaped air cylinder is the most common.
The rod within the air cylinder fits into the shaft and is capable of moving freely in and out.
The plunger of the air cylinder is attached to the end of the rod and cannot be seen.
The purpose of the plunger is to take the brunt of the air pressure flowing within the air cylinder.
The wider, flat surface of the plunger provides a wall against which air pressure pushes.
7. 7. Gas Cylinders
Gas cylinders are used to store gases under high pressures. Gas cylinders can store both flammable gases, such as acetylene, and inert gases such as helium. The three main types of compressed gases that are stored in gas cylinders are liquefied gas, non-liquefied gas, and dissolved gas.
Gas cylinders can be defined by four main characteristics: type of gas, state of gas (compressed, refrigerated, dissolved, cryogenic liquid), purity of gas, and type of cylinder.
Gas cylinders can be made from aluminum, steel, alloys, and composite materials.
Gases contained in a compressed gas cylinder can be toxic, flammable, oxidizing, corrosive, and/or inert
8. 8. Pneumatic Cylinders
Pneumatic cylinders (sometimes known as air cylinders) are mechanical devices which produce force, often in combination with movement, and are powered by compressed gas (typically air).
9. 9. Water Cylinders
A water cylinder is used to store domestic water that is heated by a system or regular boiler.
There are two types of unvented water cylinders, which are called: Single coil water cylinders and Twin coil water cylinders.
In most properties with an unvented water cylinder, it is likely to be a single coil water cylinder.
