Why Pre Shipment Inspection • Pre shipment inspection (pre-shipment inspection or PSI) • • • part of supply chain management reliable quality control method After ordering the goods/recycables, buyer has 3rd party (independent inspection company) inspect the consignment A PSI can be performed at different stages: • Checking the total amount of goods and packing • Controlling the quality and/or consistency of goods • Checking of all documentation, including test reports and packaging list • Verifying compliance with the standards of the destination country

Why Pre Shipment Inspection of Recyclables • Recyclables: • Waste paper • Scrap metal ferrous & non-ferrous • Scrap plastics • Rubber scrap The scope of PSI is to ensure that • consignment is free of any toxic and hazardous waste • consignment is free of municipal waste and bio-medical waste • non-paper content does not exceed the % the Government or buyer finds acceptable • minimize risk of rejection • health and safety of the community is safeguarded

Why Pre Shipment Inspection of Recyclables • Various countries have regulations for mandatory pre shipment inspection of recyclables (e.g. China, Indonesia, India) • Scope of pre shipment inspection: check presence of Toxic & Hazardous waste • Importers want to buy a commodity / raw material not waste in general
  8. 8. Why Pre Shipment Inspection of Recyclables TO AVOID THAT DEVELOPING COUNTRIES BECOME THE JUNK YARD OF THE REST OF THE WORLD
  9. 9. CWM Survey & Inspection’s contract with Indonesian Government CWM concluded a contract with the Indonesian state owned company KSO Sucofindo. KSO Sucofindo belongs to the Department of Trade and is part of a program which is released to protect macro economic growth. CWM Survey & Inspection is accredited by the Indonesian Government. CWM has been granted the sole and exclusive right of pre-shipment inspection of consignments of scrap metal, waste paper, scrap plastics and rubber scrap from Europe and “former Eastern Europe” to Indonesia.
