I tried to represent graphically the message contained in the posts by 'Gail the Actuary' on the link between peak oil and peak debt at http://ourfiniteworld.com. While objectively the combined peaks don't bode well, there is hope that production capacity can be shifted from the production of consumer goods to energy producing goods to forestall the long period of decline that Gail foresees. We have come together in the past to pool our resources and meet great challenges. The question is whether we can do it again? The current debates in Washington and Brussels suggest we may not be able to work together to the degree needed.
