  3. 3. PURPOSE OF THE TRUST <ul><li>1. Suyam Charitable Trust was formally registered under Trust Act in August 1999. </li></ul><ul><li>2. Promote awareness among the Public. </li></ul><ul><li>3. Conduct special Programmes for downtrodden people. </li></ul><ul><li>4. Help the old, disabled, destitute, handicapped and poor people who are the inmates of various homes in Tamil Nadu. </li></ul><ul><li>5. Conduct creative stimulation camps for college students </li></ul><ul><li>6. Organize camps and training programs in order to develop creativity, personality and scientific outlook among students. </li></ul><ul><li>7. Specially concerned in Child labor, bonded labor, school drop outs in corporation schools, Early marriages, Teenagers, Families by stressing child-centered education to facilitate holistic development of the child. </li></ul><ul><li>12.   5. 5. MILESTONE <ul><li>Along with a group of friends in 1992, Dr.V.Uma and Mr. R.N.Muthuram decided to commit their spare time serving the socially marginalized. They had been involved in social activities since 1987 – from the age of twelve. The participants of the group believed that human beings are born to serve others and serve them well. This, the felt, not only provides self satisfaction but enables the promotion of self sufficient families and societies that lead to mature individuals. </li></ul>Presented by C Venkata Krishna (CVK)
  6. 6. MILESTONE <ul><li>In 1992, This group started visiting and organizing recreational activities for residents of old age and children’s home. Frequently, they imparted their knowledge to these groups through teaching. And during this period this group began to organize blood donation camps. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1994, Dr. Uma attended a UGC personality development camp which inspired her and the group to research and organize similar camps for neighbors, friends and ultimately schools. </li></ul>Presented by C Venkata Krishna (CVK)
  7. 7. MILESTONE <ul><li>In 1999, they registered the group under the name Suyam Charitable Trust to more effectively reach people. They continued to enable families, cancer patients and children harmed by child labor to cope with their circumstances. </li></ul>Presented by C Venkata Krishna (CVK)
  8. 8. MILESTONE <ul><li>After forming Suyam with confidence they began the Nadaipathail Pookal Programme. They spent time with this community in Palavedu Pettai and materially assisted them with their basic needs. Some of the people in the community began asking for their children to be sent to school. </li></ul><ul><li>Initially, Suyam sent many of these children to school by paying their fees. In 2003, they set up “Siragu Montessori School” when faced with increasing pressure from the community to educate their children. The school has been successful in imparting education to children growing up in marginalized communities. </li></ul>Presented by C Venkata Krishna (CVK)

MILESTONE <ul><li>Suyam have succeeded in stopping begging among children in the Nadaipathai Pookal community. </li></ul><ul><li>Suyam have 82 first generation learners, including those from Nadaipathai Pookal programme. </li></ul><ul><li>Suyam also provide a 6 month bridge course for 50 children from 10 brick kilns in Palavedu Panchayat. They have motivated them to learn, and to join mainstream schools in their villages. </li></ul><ul><li>Siragu being part of Suyam charitable Trust provides a quality education for children which till now had minimal access to any kind of schooling at all. Children show overall development, much more that mere academics. They interacted with role models and have the confidence to face life without feelings of inferiority. </li></ul>Presented by C Venkata Krishna (CVK)

Suyam’s Women Empowerment program helps the poor and destitute women are well motivated to gain confidence to overcome challenges to lead their life, learn to excel their tailoring skills and earn. </li></ul><ul><li>16. Suyam’s project at Nagapattinam has an activity centre, has Suyam’s digital library and interactive science learning program. </li></ul><ul><li>17. “Suyam home” acts apart from primary education, a small home by the name Suyam home is being run for the children of different ages who are faced with various kinds of challenges in their lives. </li></ul><ul><li>18. Suyam also organizes health camps including medical camps, blood donation camps, cataract operation camps, eye donation camps, nutrition and hygiene camps. It also donates materials like hearing aids and wheel chairs besides providing educational support. </li></ul><ul><li>19.
