  • 2. There are many ways to potentially prevent breast canceror at least reduce your risk. The best way to preventbreast cancer is by eating healthy and certain foods andnutrients. You should try and stick to a diet that isprimarily plant based because this has been shown to bea healthier diet in many studies. A plant based diet is alsofull of anti-oxidants that help to reduce your risk of cancer.The evidence supports fresh, organic fruits, vegetablesand whole grains. Some good choices arebroccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale,radishes and turnips.Another nutrient that you should try and get more of isomega-3s. Omega-3s shrink breast tumors and preventmetastasis. Some good sources of omega-3s are Flaxseeds and fresh fish. Atlantic and farm raised salmon cancontain high amounts of PCBs a potent cancer-causingagent and is to be avoided absolutely. Canned salmon isPacific and wild so it is a good source of omega-3s. You should also get enough Folic acid andVitamin B12. These vitamins have been found to preventDNA mistakes from occurring preventing normal cells frommutating into cancer cells. Good sources of vitamin B-12and or Folic acid are green vegetables, whole wheat,eggs, shellfish, sardines and salmon.A spice you may want to consider adding to your diet isturmeric. Some studies indicate that turmeric is potent atpreventing cancer. Turmeric breaks down toxins in theliver, is an anti-inflammatory, is a powerful anti-oxidant,stimulates the immune system and promotes weight lossby emulsifying fat. You can also use garlic, ginseng,rosemary and black cohosh can also help to reduce therisk of breast cancer.Vitamin E is also a good vitamin to get enough of in yourdiet. Vitamin E rich foods include avocados, almonds,sweet potatoes, leafy green vegetables, wheat germ andsalmon. Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant that helpsneutralize free radicals.

Some studies indicatethat exercise can lower the risk of breast cancer by 30 to50 percent. Exercise is beneficial because it strengthensthe immunes system. Exercise can also regulate bloodsugar which can control insulin levels which can alsoreduce the risk of breast cancer.You will also want to ensure you get enough sleep. Youshould get at least 7 hours of sleep per day in a darkroom. Melatonin is a powerful anti-oxidant hormone thatprotects against breast cancer. Going to bed at 10 p.m.increases the production of melatonin.
