  4. 4. Brand Yourself• Use the same name on your blog, twitter, etc• Fill in your bio and a photo • Don’t be this guy• Let people know what you will be blogging and tweeting about • It’s OK to talk about other things but establish who you are and what you are about | © 2012 IBM Corporation

Engage• Get involved in conversation on Twitter • I won’t follow you just because you followed me, I will follow you for conversation and content • respond with links to your blog WHEN it is relevant on twitter, in forums, etc. • Be yourself• Comment on other blogs• Integrate you blog with twitter, facebook, google+ to reach a wider audience • Look into services that automate cross-posting • dlvr.it • Twitterfeed • ifttt• Tweet your posts once • Don’t retweet yourself again and again | © 2012 IBM Corporation
  6. 6. Measure• Track stats on your blog • Google Analytics integrates easily in to all platforms• Don’t obsess over your stats, • It takes time to build a following • Use stats to see which topics are of interest to your audience • Remember they are just numbers | © 2012 IBM Corporation

Just Do It• Not every post has to be a masterpiece• You don’t have to blog every day or on a set schedule • You probably won’t have many readers if you blog once a year though• There are no stupid ideas • You will probably be surprised which posts are the popular ones (usually not the ones you expect)• Constructive Criticism is OK • Whining is not• Google never forgets once you hit publish there is no going back • Not sure about a post, ask a friend to preview it | © 2012 IBM Corporation
