    • Technology and Young Learners Ana Maria Scandiuzzi Domingos Di Lello July 22, 2009 7th CTJ TEFL
    • In what ways does the rapid change in technology bring different perspectives to our language classrooms? How do you feel about using technology when teaching English to young learners? What technology tools have you ever used with your students? What difficulties do you face when using technology in your classes?
    • Examples of technology used as tools:
      • Digital cameras
      • Scanners
      • E-mail
      • The Internet
      • Video cameras
      • Computer programs
      • Word processing
      • Mp3
      • Ipods
      • Cell phones
    • Technology tools and activities will help young students:
      • develop language and writing skills;
      • learn how to observe, document, and organize;
      • learn to communicate effectively;
      • develop listening and proficiency in a playful and enjoyable context;
      • engage in cooperative learning;
      • present or represent learning in ways that make sense to them.
    • What teachers should do:
      • Implement technology in ways that are developmentally appropriate;
      • Develop plans focused on specific learning goals;
      • Link technology use directly with hands-on activities;
      • Manage the class constructively;
      • Learn to use technology to improve curriculum and promote engagement;
