1. 1. A Day in the Life of a 9yo Student Created by Mrs. Szeryk’s 9 Year-Old Class
2. 2. Math Ch.1 Place Value <ul><li>First in Math we learned place value. We had questions with an answer that is either position, count, measure or label for example, if John’s team had 3 home runs in the game is the number used to position, count, label or measure? </li></ul><ul><li>We learned about place value up to the billions </li></ul>
3. 3. Ch.2 and Ch.3 <ul><li>In Chapter 2 in Math, we learned how to compare numbers, order numbers, compare and order money,make change and round numbers </li></ul><ul><li>In Chapter 3, we worked on Addition and Subtraction </li></ul>
4. 4. Chapters 4 and 5 <ul><li>In Chapter 4 we did multiplication properties and division rules and multiplied three factors </li></ul><ul><li>In chapter 5 we did order of operations, words into expressions, comparing expressions, variables and equations, and function tables </li></ul>

Reading <ul><li>In Reading, we have learned about the Literary Elements and how to make Connections when we read </li></ul><ul><li>Right now, we read books, Ask Questions, and then answer them to understand the book better </li></ul><ul><li>We do activities in booklets related to the story we are reading </li></ul>
6. 6. IE classes <ul><li>During our IE classes we learned how to write a story. </li></ul>

8. 8. Stories We Made <ul><li>We know how to get our writing better organized using dialogues with good punctuation, and I think I learned a lot. </li></ul><ul><li>I want to learn more and be the best student in I.E. class </li></ul>

LA <ul><li>In the Beginning of the year we wrote Autobiographical Poems. </li></ul><ul><li>Later in the year,we wrote narrative stories which are funny real-life stories. </li></ul><ul><li>We wrote Persuasive Paragraphs, followed by Descriptive Writing and the Contest of a British Author Called Roald Dahl. </li></ul><ul><li>Look at the descriptive writing on the wall about our family members. </li></ul><ul><li>We also wrote about a Canadian hero named Terry Fox. </li></ul>

11. 11. Recess <ul><li>At the beginning of recess we eat our snacks. </li></ul><ul><li>Then we play outside. </li></ul><ul><li>After recess we line up in the lines of our classes. </li></ul>
12. 12. Science <ul><li>In Science we make lots of fun stuff like:We make fun Experiments asking questions. We are studying The Solar System. Now we are observing the Moon and the Sun. During the holidays, we had a homework assignment of observing the Sun and Moon. We became Science experts on the Sun and Moon. The fun starts after recess and ends before Lunch. </li></ul>

15. 15. World geography <ul><li>We made a poster about our home country. </li></ul>
16. 16. Middle Ages project 1 <ul><li>This is our class’s first presentation about the feudal system in the middle ages. Our class all did one slide and Mrs.Szeryk compiled them together. </li></ul>
17. 17. Middle Ages project 2 <ul><li>We did another presentation too. It was our own presentation but we could have done it as a group, choosing four people who lived in the middle ages. Our class made three presentations and one play. You can see them on our website. </li></ul>

Art <ul><li>Paper Buildings </li></ul><ul><li>We ripped out two </li></ul><ul><li>rectangles from one </li></ul><ul><li>brown, and one grey </li></ul><ul><li>paper for roads. </li></ul><ul><li>We ripped buildings out </li></ul><ul><li>of the papers, glued it all </li></ul><ul><li>on, and drew </li></ul><ul><li>windows with marker </li></ul><ul><li>Animal Drawings </li></ul><ul><li>We had to pick an animal. </li></ul><ul><li>We drew the animal in real life, </li></ul><ul><li>with no curves, and with pulling </li></ul><ul><li>the shapes apart. </li></ul><ul><li>We copied two onto bigger </li></ul><ul><li>paper and colored one. </li></ul>
19. 19. Library <ul><li>In Library Ms Beata reads us a book </li></ul><ul><li>She gives us questions after reading the book </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes she lets us make bookmarks </li></ul><ul><li>After that, we take a ruler to keep book places, and check out our books </li></ul>

22. 22. Languages: German <ul><li>In German class, we (not all of the people in our class) learned about things such as introducing ourselves, counting and about family members. Also we played a game to memorize things that we learned. </li></ul>
