Founded in 2010, Applix is a company focused on Customer Interaction through mobile solutions that enable brands, publishers and institutions to create an innovative and effective digital strategy.

We are a strategic partner for some of the most important publishers and businesses, specialising in two main lines of business: Digital Publishing, Mobile & Apps, Education.

In 2011 our company gained a €3 million investment, underwritten by Principia 2 fund, the investment company AngelLab, Hyppo Corporation and private partners, laying the foundation for the roll-out and internationalisation of its products.

In 2012 and 2014 we completed the acquisition of Xorovo and bSmart, today Applix Xorovo and Applix Education, business units of the company: the former, specialising in the development of end user and enterprise solutions for mobile devices, the latter, focused on digital publishing services for education.

Our Apps have received several international awards and have been downloaded in more than 120 countries, reaching the top 10 of the Stores ranking in over 50 of them with millions of downloads.

  3. 3. 3 3 ORGANISATION Applix is divided into specialised business units with an innovative approach Business Units Dedicated to the enhancement of content, Applix Digital Publishing designs and develops services and solutions to support companies and publishers in facing the digital and mobile world. Focused on the development of innovative solutions for the digital school sector, it is one of the main players in the Italian educational publishing industry. It creates custom-made applications, m-sites and mobile projects, also integrating immersive VR experiences . It has already received several international awards. The first business in Europe to launch onto the market a builder which enables users to develop mobile Apps in self-provisioning without having coding skills. It plans and develops so"ware platforms offering end user and enterprise solutions for the Apps market. It provides services, solutions and R&D for the Group.

Journalist, writer, passionate about new technologies, he launched important initiatives in the video games, music, web communities, and in the digital rights management field. A"er the establishment and development in 2003 of the investment company Digital Magics where he was a partner, in 2010 he founded Applix with Marco Cirilli. Marco Cirilli has more than twenty years of experience in the project management of so"ware development in companies like Inferentia and FullSix as international partner, and in Digital Magics as Group COO. He studied information technology at Università degli Studi di Milano. Passionate about digital technologies, always looking out for innovation and digital developments. In 2010 he founded Applix with Claudio Somazzi, managing all product developments. From 2005 Salvatore Carta is IT Department researcher at Cagliari University. His studies moved from networks-on-chip to recommendation, mobile and web 2.0. He wrote more than 50 publications with the Peer Review. In 2008 founded Xorovo, of which he’s CEO and CTO, an excellence example in mobile Apps landscape and for web 2.0; in 2012 joined Applix becoming CTO. He manages the development team in Cagliari of Applix Xorovo, the factory of the Group. Graduated in physics in Milan, he earned a master degree in Multimedia in Paris (Beaux Arts - Télécom). He has always dealt with multimedia in the publishing industry. He worked at Gallimard and once back in Italy he created the multimedia division of Paravia Bruno Mondadori (later Pearson Italy). In 2000 Emanuele founded with Michela bSmart learning, consulting & solutions, today Applix Education, Italian leading company in digital education. Raffaele Dapiaggi graduated in Economics at Pavia University (1997). A"er his studies, he started his career as auditor in Ernst&Young. A"er this first experience, he gained experience in the financial and development areas working in listed technology societies such as Fullsix, Digital Magics (where he worked as CFO) and Arvedi Group. He designed and created the first LAN Ethernet in Solferino Street, introducing the PC in his editorial staff and the first email system. In the first 2000s he le" the “paper” and took the helm of the first digital experimentations. He laid the foundation for a Lab with the purpose of moving first steps in the R&D. He met Applix and embraced its philosophy. He manages the development and operations of Applix Digital Publishing. Federico Vittadello gradueted in engineering. He started his career as the person in charge of the planning and management of Jumpy portal’s Sport Channel. He worked as Content Partnership Manager and Project Manager for British Telecom and he was in charge of Buongiorno’s mobile offer. In 2004 he moved to RCS as Director of the Mobile area and person in charge of the Digital Innovation Lab. In 2013 he worked at Il Sole 24 Ore, in charge of Digital Products and Services, until he met Applix. Passionate about innovative research and experimentation in educational technology. A"er an extensive experience in the educational and publishing fields, in 2000 she founded with Emanuele Putignano bSmart srl (current Applix Education). In 2006 she wrote the concept of the first interactive textbook, with user personalization features in Italy, which has become the core of Hachette Éducation’s platform. In 2011 she defined the concept of bSmart platform and is now feeding its development. A"er a double degree at the Design Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano and at the College of Design and Innovation of the Tongji University in Shanghai, Giuseppe Farina started his career as graphic designer in several Italian and foreign companies. Then he focused on and specialised in User Experience and User Interface. He has been working in Applix since 2011, at the beginning as UI&UX Designer and a"erwards leading the design team as Art Director. President of IBM Italia, member of the Consiglio di Presidenza of Assolombarda and of the Board of Confindustria, member of the Executive Committee of Fondazione Fiera Milano. Co-founder of THINK! , he works as Senior Advisor for some Italian companies. In 2006 he was General Manager Sales of IBM.
