What is SSL? • SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer. • Global standard security technology developed by Netscape in 1994. • Creates an encrypted link between a web server and a web browser. • Ensures that all data remains private and secure. • Recognized by consumers via a padlock icon in their web browser:
