  • 1. 2nd Grade Open House Welcome to Miss Mullarkey’s 2 nd grade class!!
  • 2. Welcome Parents!!
    • Welcome Parents my name is Miss Mullarkey and I will be your child’s 2 nd grade teacher this year!
      • My goal this year is to help your child become a better reader, writer, and prepare them for 3 rd grade.
      • You can help by studying with them, getting involved with school activities, and being interested in their schoolwork 
  • 3. Brief Curriculum Goals
    • Writing: Learning cursive, and how to write three paragraph papers.
    • Reading: Jumping into chapter books and focusing on reading comprehension
    • Math: Adding and subtracting two or more digit numbers, and working with word problems.
  • 4. In Class Activity!
    • How many Jelly beans are in the jar??
  • 5. Class Information
    • Your children will receive a progress report every 2 weeks, they are to have you sign them and bring them back.
      • It will include behavior, attitude, study skills, and grades.
      • It will be on an A B C D F grading scale.
      • I will allow one re-try on every test to gain a better grade. On homework they can resubmit once for a better grade as well.
      • Homework will be assigned at least 3 times a week. Along with reading every night.
      • There are 4 scheduled field trips this year as well.
  • 6. Classroom Rules
    • Five simple rules to follow!
      • Be Respectful to the teacher and classmates.
      • Be responsible.
      • Follow directions.
      • Be polite.
      • Have Fun and Learn 
  • 7. School Policies
    • The school requires students to behave in a proper manner otherwise disciplinary action will follow.
    • They can’t miss more than 10 days of school otherwise they will fail the grade.
    • Tardiness is frowned upon, but if tardy they have to report to the office and explain why.
    • If they will be absent you must call in the morning of the absent day and report why they will be missing.
    • For more information look in your student hand guides I have passed out 
  • 8. Get Involved!!
    • Parents you are your child’s role model so be a good one!!
      • Ask them how school is everyday, and be interested in what they say!
      • Help them with their homework but don’t do it for them.
      • Push them to succeed in school.
      • Have family time and discuss goals with your child.
      • Schedule parent teacher conferences.
      • Participate in school field trips!
      • Be a room parent 
      • Be apart of PTA.
