  • 2. What is the Mediterranean Climate
    Mediterranean Climate is also known as Dry Summer Subtropical Climate.
    The reason the Mediterranean Climate is called like this is because of the land that borders the Mediterranean Sea.

  • 3. Where is the Mediterranean climate located?
    Mediterranean-climate regions are found usually between 31 and 40 degrees latitude north and south of the equator, on the western side of continents. They can also extend eastwards for thousands of kilometers into arid regions. If it is not stopped by mountains or confronted with moist climates, such as the summer rainfall. This occurs in certain regions of Australia and South Africa. The most extended penetration goes from the Mediterranean Basin up into western Pakistan and into some areas of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (the source of many of our cherished bulbous plants).
  • 4. How does the Mediterranean Climate effect the environment
    The heat from the earth’s magma inside of the volcanoes causes the Mediterranean Climate.
    During the summer drought it is hard for vegetation to grow, but plants have learned to adapt to the climate.
    In most Mediterranean areas it is after the summer draught that plants start to blossom
    Mediterranean climate is long hot summer day with little to none rain, and in some regions the winters are may be colder and wetter than others. (You can put this in what is Mediterranean climate).
    Mainly oak and pine trees are found in Mediterranean areas.
    Flowers and herbs tend to grow under shrubs and trees

    In horticulture, a bulbous plant is an ornamental plant, herbaceous or perennial species which produce fleshly storage organs including true bulbs as well as corms, tubers, rhizomes, and tuberous roots. These subterranean organs store moisture and nutrients and are used by bulbous plants to survive winter or other adverse conditions such as summer drought and heat in a dormant state.

  • 11. What are some of the problems they have
    the most distinguishing characteristic of the dry summer subtropical climate is its seasonal precipitation regime. As discussed above, the dry summer is due to the presence of the subtropical high. The subsidence of the subtropical high suppresses cloud development and precipitation. Additionally, the presence of a cold ocean current along the western coast of the United States helps to stabilize the air, further reducing the chances for rain. The cloudless skies during summer, however, increase the absorption of insolation by the polluted atmosphere of many large urban centers in places like southern California causing problems of photochemical smog.

    There is not much of a solution just because the Mediterranean Climate in a natural climate and is what makes our northern and southern countries what they are. A very warm and welcoming place.
