4. British films are unique in their own
right. Their aim is to convey a sense
of normality to the audience. That
there is not always a happy ending.
They are not worried about
appearances or excessive special
effects, they concentrate on getting
the message of the story across to
the audience. Films like „This is
England‟ and „Trainspotting‟
focused on modern problems of
British society. In „This is England‟
they focused on racism in our
culturally diverse country and how it
affects people. „Trainspotting‟ deals
with the issue of heroin addicts in
Glasgow. These are hard subjects
to talk about and the good thing
about British film is that they are not
afraid to push the boundaries and
explore these hard hitting real
subjects.
5. Film four
Film four is an independent film company
part of channel four. They have a channel
on TV where they show a daily line-up of
great choices of films. They showcase
different titles including, best of British film-
making, US independent films, Hollywood
blockbusters, mainstream drama and
comedy, foreign films and cult cinema.
They also include special features and in-
depth interviews and exclusive
programming.

Film four also make
their own films. Film four
productions is the
feature film

department of channel
four. They are
responsible for working
with Shane Medows to
create „This is England‟
and also „Slumdog
Millionaire‟
7. Working Title films
Working title is a British film production company
based in London. they work by creating feature
films and television
programmes.
They are responsible
for producing the films,
„Four weddings and
a funeral‟, „Shaun of
the dead‟ and
„Bridget Jones‟ diary.‟
8. BBC Films
BBC Films are apart of
the BBC family. They
make about 8 films a
year and work with
major international and
UK distributors. They
are responsible for
creating films like,
Nativity, the Duchess,
Billy Elliot and Street
Dance.
