Monarchy <ul><li>A monarchy has a king/queen etc, </li></ul><ul><li>position is passed on to heirs. </li></ul><ul><li>absolute monarchies , total power, not around much anymore </li></ul><ul><li>constitutional monarchy, UK - has a democratic government that limits the monarch's control. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Communism <ul><li>the government owns property such as businesses and farms. </li></ul><ul><li>It usually provides its people's healthcare, education and welfare. </li></ul><ul><li>Soviet Union </li></ul>
  4. 4. Republic <ul><li>People rule through elected representatives. </li></ul><ul><li>The head of the country is usually an elected president. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Socialism <ul><li>A political philosophy that advocates the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Fascism <ul><li>strong, central government led by a dictator having complete power. </li></ul><ul><li>Controlled by a military that does not allow criticizing the government </li></ul><ul><li>promotes nationalism and often racism </li></ul><ul><li>State more important than the individual </li></ul><ul><li>Extreme Totalitarianism </li></ul>
  7. 7. Dictatorship <ul><li>A country ruled by a single leader, the leader has not been elected but may use force to keep control. In a military the army is in control. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Revolutionary <ul><li>If a government is overthrown by force a new ruling group is sometimes called a Revolutionary Government. </li></ul>
