    • THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION   IN 1777 THE CONSTITUTION WAS COMPLETED AND IT WAS CALLED THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION IT WAS THE FIRST CONSTITUTION FOR THE U.S.
    • WHAT COULD THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION DO??   IT WAS VERY WEAK BUT CONGRESS COULD PASS A LAW, BUT 9/13 COLONIES HAD TO AGREE CONGRESS CREATED A POSTAL SERVICE
    • WHAT COULDN'T THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION DO??    CONGRESS COULD NOT PASS LAWS TO MAKE NEW TAXES IT DID NOT HAVE AN ARMY OR NAVY THERE WAS NO PRESIDENT OR SUPREME COURT
    • WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION???  SHAY'S REBELLION EXPOSED WEAKNESSES IN THE AOC. IT WAS A MAIN REASON FOR CONGRESS WANTING TO CHANGE THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION
    • WHAT WAS SHAY'S REBELLION???  SHAY'S REBELLION WAS ABOUT FARMERS WANTING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT IN BOSTON TO SAVE THEIR HOMES AND FARMS FROM FORECLOSURE
    • WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SHAY'S REBELLION???    THE REBELLION FAILED. IT WAS PUT DOWN BY THE MILITIA UNDER THE AOC THERE WAS NO ARMY OR NAVY CONGRESS SAID THEY NEED TO REVISE THE AOC
    • WHAT HAPPENED NEXT???   IN 1787 CONGRESS CALLED FOR A CONSITUTIONAL CONVENTION IN PHILADELPHIA DELEGATES FROM EACH STATE CAME TO THE CONVENTION EXCEPT RHODE ISLAND
    • THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION   CONGRESS WANTED TO REVISE THE AOC THEY FINALLY AGREED TO THROW OUT THE AOC AND START FROM SCRATCH
    • THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION    IT TOOK 16 WEEKS TO FORM THE NEW GOVERNMENT THE CONSTITUTION WAS SIGNED INTO LAW IN SEPT 17, 1787 JAMES MADISON IS CALLED “THE FATHER OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION
    • THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS CREATED   THE CONSTITUTION IS THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND THE CONSTITUTION IS MADE UP OF 3 PARTS:  THE PREAMBLE  7 ARTICLES  THE BILL OF RIGHTS (1ST 10 AMENDMENTS)
    • THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA    THE CONSTITUTION CREATED A STRONG CENTRAL GOVERNMENT IT HAS 3 BRANCHES (E,L,J) THE CONSTITUTION WAS CREATED BASED ON COMPROMISES
    • WHAT IS A COMPROMISE???  A COMPROMISE IS A SETTLEMENT IN WHICH EACH SIDE GIVES UP SOME OF ITS DEMANDS IN ORDER TO REACH AN AGREEMENT
    • THE GREAT COMPROMISE   THE GREAT COMPROMISE CREATED THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH IT HAS TWO HOUSES (HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE)
    • THE GREAT COMPROMISE   HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ARE SELECTED BASED ON POPULATION OF THE STATE EACH STATE GETS TWO SENTORS
    • THE 3/5 THS COMPROMISE   THE 3/5TH COMPROMISE COUNTED EVERY 3 OUT OF 5 ENSLAVED PERSON IT COUNTED TOWARDS THE STATE'S IN THE SOUTH POPULATION
    • THE SLAVE TRADE   NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN STATES AGREED TO BAN BRINGING ENSLAVED PEOPLE INTO THE U.S. CONGRESS COULD NOT OUTLAW THE TRADE FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS
    • ELECTORAL COLLEGE   CONGRESS ALSO AGREE TO FORM A ELECTORAL COLLEGE TO SELECT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES THEY DIDN'T THINK THE AVERAGE PEOPLE WERE SMART ENOUGH
    • IT'S ALMOST COMPLETE, THEY HAVE TO ADD A BILL OF RIGHTS   THE CONSTITUTION CREATED A NEW GOVERNMENT BUT SOMETHING WAS MISSING SOME STATES WOULDN'T AGREE TO THE CONSTITUTION UNTIL THE PEOPLE'S RIGHTS WERE ADDED TO THE CONSTITUTION
    • WHY WAS THE BILL OF RIGHTS ADDED TO THE CONSTITUTION???  THE BILL OF RIGHTS WAS ADDED TO PROTECT CITIZEN'S BASIC LIBERTIES AND FREEDOMS
