      • This section is based on learning definitions of the above and applying these to specific sporting examples.
      • How can these areas be improved?
    2. What is Health?
      • This requires the combination of:
      • Mental Health
      • Physical Health
      • Social Health
      • The absence of infirmity or disease
      • In pairs or groups discuss the meanings the above and give examples of each
    3. Definition of Health and Exercise
      • Health
      • “ A state of complete mental, social and physical well being, NOT simply the absence of disease or infirmity”
      • Fitness
      • ” The ability to perform physical activity to meet the demands of an activity or sport”

      • Cardiovascular fitness-(heart Health)
      • Muscular Strength
      • Muscular Endurance
      • Flexibility
      • Body Composition

      • Endo-morph-(pear shape body)

      • Meso-morph-(muscular-wedge shaped)

      • Definition
      • “ Ability of the muscles to exert force”
      • Ability to lift heavy weights
      • Important for sports requiring force.

      • Healthy heart, lungs and blood vessels.

      • Need to lead an active lifestyle to improve this
      • Must continue to take part in sports and exercise when you get older

      • Lifting lighter weights for longer periods of time

      • “ The range of movement possible at a joint”
      • The is important in all sports especially gymnastics and dance.
