In the old days…..
Libraries were only places for books.
The catalog was a file cabinet full of handwritten note cards.
The collections were mostly donated from townspeople once they were done reading them.
Librarians went around “Ssshhhhhing” people.

Today….
Libraries are full of various print and electronic tools and resources.
The collections and resources actively reflect what our community needs and wants.
Librarians encourage group collaboration and idea sharing.
Librarians anxiously await the opportunity to help the students, staff & faculty.

Investigate and suggest new databases that may benefit your classes

Information Literacy
Instruct & guide students in information literacy skills such as…
Finding, understanding, and evaluating quality information and facts (how to tell good info from bad)
How to locate, analyze, interpret, evaluate, & record info and ideas
Use information to solve academic, social, global, personal, and technological problems
Develop and apply new facts and info to create projects, assignments, and skills

Build Library use and resources into classes
Partner with faculty to customize library research and instruction for specific courses
Provide basic-to-advanced assignments in the use of library resources (easy to incorporate into your course assignments)
Demonstrate innovative technologies for class communications and knowledge sharing (blogs, wikis, Flickr, YouTube, Podcasting)
