Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi language film industry based in Mumbai. The term is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema. It is only a part of the total Indian film industry, which includes other production center producing films in regional languages. Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of films production in the world . Bollywood is formally referred to as Hindi cinema. There has been a growing presence of Indian English, Indian logue and songs as well. It is common to see films that feature dialogue with English words (also known as hinglish), phases, or even wrote sentences.
The first mute hindi film “Raja Harishchandra” made in Bollywood was premiered in 1913. In 1930 after the amazing results of “Raja Harishchadra”, the industry started producing 200 films per year. The first sound film “Alam Ara” appeared in 1931, and the first color film “Kisan Kanya” in 1937. In the 80s and 90s Bollywood reached their golden age, with unforgettable productions, actors and actresses. The most recognized Bollywood pairs are: Sahn Rukh Khan and Kajol, and their most unforgettable films are: “Kuch Hota Hai” and “Dilwate Dulhania”.
One of the characteristics of the movies that are produce in Bollywood is the spectacularity. Movies have very expensive budgets, they last 3 hours approximately, generally with a break and with colored decoration and costumes. The principal character of “RajaHarischandra”, Salunka, was the first star in the Indian cinema. In the same film there are elements of the musical cinema, thriller and comedy. This model is called “Masala, it represents the mixture of Hindu species.
Music is one of the fundamental elements in this kind of industry. Another characteristic is the use of playback, while the stars are mimics, professional singers doubling their voices. In the movies there’s always music. Light classical music includes the following genera: Thunri, Dadra, Gihazy, Chaiti, Tappa. Although Kajri is based on ragas. In India it is very popular to hear the famous songs of Bollywood film. The musical instruments of India can be classified in: Plucked, membraphones, indiophones and wind. The two styles of classical music have been Carnatic music (south) and indastawi classical music (north) .
