Pine bark and peatmoss prices (and availability) go up and down constantly. For most growers in the Great Plains, shipping your potting material (or components) is not an option: We simply don't have many pine plantations in the region. What can you do to have more control over your substrate? Here in Kansas we've evaluated Eastern Redcedar (Juniperus virginiana) as an alternative component with quite a bit of success. In this talk, Cheryl will share with you what they've learned in substrate research at K-Sate in the last 5 years.
