  • An crash course that cover the TOGAF 9.0
  • TOGAF provides building blocks.
  • Different people that view world and operate quite different.
  • Making café, no matter what process you go the ultimate goal is to make coffee.
  • We have two spaces 1)How & 2)What
All the building blocks of the TOGAF in its landscape sets around the two spaces. We really need to understand that separation.
  • IN TOGAF we have a bucket. Splitting into two i.e. architecture Continuum and a solution continuum. And method of building architecture that add building blocks and consumes building blocks to build an architectural Model at very high meta level structure.
TOGAF 9 has added new interesting concept content framework at the very bottom i.e. a metamodel what type of building blocks we need to build.
  • ABC Bank will be in organisation-specific Archi
    Foundation: Tech Ref Model
CSA: IIIRM(ERP arch, Security arch, integration archi.)
Ind. Arch: SCOR. In actual these are our building model.

The companies like oracle or IBM will traditionally sell us this in the form capability model or “what” model.

Org. Arch: Ind. Arch Customized to form org. arch. Now we need to understand make our abc bank(any organisation) different from the other banks down the road.

Companies wont sell there process model i.e. the “how” model as those define there business edge.
  • The ref model is merely the collection of commonly used building blocks.
So we take the building blocks and cluster them together.
Making pools of them like information service layer, business service layer, composite service layer.

As u do more n more arch. U got pool of building block. TRM and IIIRM are the starting point of those collection.
  • Depends on maturity of the arch.
    START : 3-5 yr view

Then scope comes down to Seg. Arch and then to Capa. Arch

E.G. : STAT for government, then seg. For perticular depart. And then again further division.

    ADM work on all three…

  • 3. Things to be Covered  What is TOGAF?
  • 4. Things to be Covered  Different People
  • 5. Things to be Covered  Different People
  • 6. Things to be Covered  “What”  “How” Process Functions
  • 7. Quick Summary of TOGAF Architectural Model ArchConti SolnConti ADM
  • 8. Genral Specific
  • 9. ADM
  • 10. ADM: Partitioning of Arch.
  • 11. ADM work on all 3
  • 12. Architectural Context Iteration  Preliminary  Architectural vision ArchitecturalContextIteration
  • 13. Architectural Context Iteration o Preliminary  EA Strategy  EA Operation Model  Some Principle  Framework  Stake holder of the architecture
  • 14. Architectural Context Iteration o Vision  What is the vision for this iteration  Might be o Strategic o Segmentation o Capability o Each spins out in there own way and each have o All the guide by the Preliminary phase
  • 15. Architectural Development Iteration o BDAT  Business Arch  Data Arch  Application Arch  Technology Arch BDAT
  • 16. BDAT BDAT BDAT
  • 17. Architectural Transition Iteration  Opportunity & Solution  Migration Planning
  • 18. Architectural Transition Iteration  Opportunity & Solution  Traditionally is the purest view of the solution architecture.  Solution Architecture understand the solution continuum.
  • 19. Architectural Transition Iteration  Migration Planning  Here project manager gets involved.  We are having RFP.  We goes to market and comes back to planning.  Now pro. Manager can have a view of cost, effort and resourcing.  Project Management Technique to line away all this.
  • 20. Architectural Governance Iteration • Implementation Governance • Architectural Change Management
  • 21. Architectural Implementation Iteration • Not given in TOGAF Documentation • It is the part where we give the project to be actually implemented by the vendor or the outsourcer or our own development team. • We can use tools like A10. One of the tool to measure how well implementation is occurring with the arch landscape I build.
  • 22. Architectural Development Iteration 1. My stake holders 1. Views 2. View Points 3. Concerns 2. Reference Model i.e. the building blocks 3. AS – IS 4. To – BE 5. GAP Analysis
  • 23. Architectural Development Iteration Eg. • Automation of contact management  Write down application arch & GAP analysis • Reporting or information project  AS – IS then TO – BE od data then GAP Analysis • Particular Division is loading revenue  AS – IS then TO – BE od data then GAP Analysis
