Prof. Shen Nanying
Born in 1929, ancestral origin: Yixing, Jiangsu.
Graduated from Beijing Agricultural University in 1954 and engaged in grassland research work in Inner Mongolia in the previous years, and then transferred into Qinghai Province in 1964.
Set up a high-level laboratory base in Yushu where the altitude is 4,600 m and there are extremely hard conditions in 1977. The key research work of this base is developing the characterization, seperation and culture of cordyceps sinensis strains.
Been the first person who successfully separated cordyceps sinensis strain around the world in 1980, and then successfully finished the biological characterization of cordyceps sinensis strain in 1983, that is Chinese pilous spore is the unique strain of cordyceps sinensis. Prof. Shen Nanying was thereby praised as “the pioneer of cordyceps sinensis characterization research in China”.

Each piece of fresh cordyceps sinensis comes from the super cordyceps sinensis production places—Yushu and Naqu in China
