• Today advanced communication Technologies
applications for the society
• Industries, Bussiness/banks, Transportation, Household
and Global knowledge;
• Optical communication research is fruit of combined
efforts in diverse disciplines:
• Physics, photonics, electronics, algorithms and
networks;
3. HIGH CAPACITY COMMUNICATIONS LIMITATIONS
• Fiber capacity crunch
• Today we have noticed 100 Tb/s single mode fiber hero
experiments;
• Theoretical limit are around 200 Tb/s (mainly due
nonlinear effects);
• CMOS ASICs limitations
• Processor frequency does not obey moore law since
year 2000 (Core i7 runs at 3.5GHz)
• CMOS process today is 14nm, and the limitation is about
0.5 nm (two atoms layer);
4. TOMORROW DEMAND NEEDS AND
TECHNOLOGIES
• Tomorrow advanced communication Technologies

• Medical diagnosis and treatment, traffic safety and
Internet of Things;
