My Understanding 0 From my understanding : I believe that Realism is definedas an individual, an animal, and insome cases an object that speaksitself to you from deep within yourplace of peace. How can one truly bereal if they fail to understand and betruthful with themselves. Realismbegins when that individualacknowledges that they must first bereal to oneself. Take this painting tothe right for example: This individuallooks into a mirror and she realizesthat until she can be truthful withherself then she can never considerwhat it truly means to be real.
Quote # 2 Realism sets itself at work to consider characters and events which areapparently the most ordinary and uninteresting, in order to extract from thesetheir full value and true meaning. It would apprehend in all particulars theconnection between the familiar and the extraordinary, and the seen and unseenof human nature. Beneath the deceptive cloak of outwardly uneventful days, itdetects and endeavors to trace the outlines of the spirits that are hidden there;tho measure the changes in their growth, to watch the symptoms of moraldecay or regeneration, to fathom their histories of passionate or intellectualproblems. In short, realism reveals. Where we thought nothing worth ofnotice, it shows everything to be rife with significance (313).Lathrop, George Parsons. “The Novel and its Future." Atlantic Monthly 34(September 1874):313-24.
Relationship, Love, and Anger This particular image is of an individual who is not only well known for her anger but she also shows how real she is with her love that she has shown to others and her relationship choices that she has made. The passion that she possess is so deep and passionate. Her demonstration of realism is that she can easily express herself and she has no problem in being expressive. Realism is not fake it is being true to oneself and being true to others. Show them that the best decision that they can make is being real.
Conclusion The purpose of this power point presentation is to get thestudents to understand that there is no right or wrong answer to whatyou may think Realism is. Realism was defined by one writer as thetruthfulness of material. The other writer defines it as being able tounidentified what it truly means to be real or exemplify realism. Thepresentation is a way to get the students to understand that realism isexemplified through all aspects of life. Whether or not one chooses tobe real determines just how their realism will show. The challenge isto get feed back as to what is thought when looking at the pictures thatare present within this presentation. Can one define Realism fromtheir own perspective by looking at the presentation or does it confuseone because the realism aspect is widely defined? Who knows what itmeans to truly be real? Who can determine whether it is real or not? What does it truly mean when one throws a term out there such asrealism?
