My eyes were wide open and I was fully awake.<br />The nightmare hit me too fast for my heart to take.<br />Immediate tears as I heard the news.<br />I knew it was bad when I saw the flashing lights of red and blue.<br />Instantly sick with little to no healing.<br />I wish there was something we could do to cure his lost feeling.<br />I look out the window, expecting no fun<br />Only to see Uncle Greg, by a rope he hung.<br />I fell to my knees and became very weak.<br />My heart was torn, I could not speak.<br />He was there for a while, ‘til the rest of the sun.<br />It’s hard to make reality that the depression had won.<br />The vivid pictures from that memorable evening<br />Kill me inside leaving an empty feeling.<br />It had been a long week after the nightmare was born.<br />With tears and moans, all dressed in black we relentlessly mourned.<br />“Be Not Afraid” is the song that I hear.<br />It plays in my head, it brings me to tears.<br />Till this very day I love him ‘til my last breath.<br />This just proves: Love is stronger than death.<br />By: Adrienne Couts<br />
