Pointillism Art Intro

  1. 1. George Seurat This is a famous French artist from the 1800’s named George Seurat. He was a famous painter. He took a LONG time painting, and he painted in a suit! He had to be very careful to make sure he didn’t drip paint on himself!
  2. 2. La Grande Jatte This is his most famous painting, called “La Grande Jatte”. Seurat often painted rich people enjoying life. He used a style called POINTILLISM. That means he painted in little dots. Let’s see a close up of part of this painting.
  3. 3. This is a close up of the woman’s head! See how it’s made up of dots of color?
  4. 4. Here’s another close-up of a painting using pointillism. Close up, you can see the dots. But they’re hard to see from far away!
