1. The project
This project was a simulation of a crisis in which
we were called to face. It had to do it had to do
with mrs. lagarde's food poisoning while on her
visit to greece to have a meeting with the
government. We were assigned the role of the
ministry of finance who had arranged the whole
stay of mrs Lagarde and we had to look into the
subject and at the same time answer in the media
questions. The simulation lasted 3 days and in the
end there was a real-time debate with the media
and the food catering.
3. Day 1
24.05.2013
Data
• We received a call from Ms. Helen Klaus the IMF
representative that informs us tha Ms. Lagarde is
experiencing nausea, high fever, and stomach problems
since last night.
• The first estimation of the hotel’s doctor was that the
symptoms was similar to food poisoning.
• We are waiting for the results of the medical examinations.
• The Hotel Manager is in touch with food catering company
and ask for investigation in case of food poisoning.
• Food Catering is one of the most reliable companies in
Greece and was chosen after a competition.

• 1st contact with Food Catering asking further
information about the company
• We informed media that we are going to publicize
a press release when we have collected the
necessary data, until then we refused to answer
to any informal questions

about the quality of their food
• We publicize a press release after food catering
ensured us that they begun the investigation
process
6. Day 2

• We get informed that one more member of
the IMF experienced stomach upset.
• Extreme pressure from the media

• Direct contact with the company
• Demanded results of investigations to appear
reliable to the public opinion
• Received information and quality certificates
which absolves the company
• We publicized press release detailing the
company's credibility, hotels and countrys

Data
• We received information that tests were
conducted at Hotelis restaurant and nothing
pathogen was found
• The crew of the restaurant was tested and no one
has stomach problems or other health related
issues
• We were informed tha Ms. Lagarde was doing
better
• Rumors that the hole incident was a terrorist
attack have started in blogs etc.
9. Day 3
Actions
• We examined the possibility of terrorist attack and reached to the
following:
• Exclude the possibility of terrorist acts for the following reasons:
1. There was no immediate and serious danger (not endangering
anyone's life)
2. The discomfort of Mrs Lagarde looks more like a flu
3. The discomfort of representative enhances the previous case
4. Thorough tests have been made to the hotel’s restaurant
5. Draconian security measures during the stay of the members
6. The whole hotel team were on hand to address any possible
problems
7. Doctor rushed to point directly
8. No terrorist organization took responsibility of the incident
