TEMPERATE RAINFORESTS by Tigergirl, Queen, and Crs97
Temperate means not extreme intemperature. The climate usually doesn’t usually drop below 0 degrees in the winter, and the spring is in the 50-60’s. They usually receive 50-60 inches of rain per year.

ANIMALS
Animals include squirrels, moles, chipmunks, and lots of other types of rodents. Other animals are birds, deer, elk, and fish. (Depending on what type of Temperate Rainforest). These animals are usually herbivores or omnivores. The spring is when mating season is here, and in full bloom. After spring summer is usually filled with newborn baby animals running through the forests. Nocturnal animals come out in the summer also. The fall is now where animals begin for the terrible winter begins. Some winter animals are still active like the deer and the owl.

PLANTS AND TREES
Temperate Rainforests usually have HUMONGOUS trees. Over 50-60 feet tall. Trees in the forest are Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Mt. Hemlock, Sitka Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, Stinging Nettle, Salmonberry, Fireweed, and Cattail.

HISTORY OF TEMPERATE RAINFORESTS PART 1
At first temperate rainforests were rainforests. It was ALL glacier. When the world started to become more warm the glaciers melted. Then the rocks from the glaciers broke down with the ground and became a rich, fertile soil. With rich soil plants begin to grow, and have huge trees. After this animals and other moving creatures move in.

HISTORY OF TEMPERATE RAINFORESTS PART 2
Sometimes fire breaks our in the forests, but it’s okay because they have other trees so it survives. The trees have been stable so long that they are very strong. This all happened more than 9,000 years ago.
