Meet Charlie - what is Enterprise2.0?I enjoyed this presentation. As a teacher working in Classroom 2.0 to encourage School 2.0 -- I have to ask myself if the majority of schools still stuck in 1.0 are getting their students ready for this sort of environment. We’re teaching kids to "behave" when watched and goof off when not, when we should be focusing on productive, global collaborative projects -- which fortunately are in my classroom (See http://horizonproject.wikispaces.com) Great prsentation.3 years ago

Web 2.0 ImagineDon’t forget an essential element of blogs -- peer review. We must get past the author--> teacher read it and return it model and harness the power of cooperation and working together. Peer review is an essential element that must occur more quickly and move past the "Great post" type comment. Peer review means looking, adding meaning, giving suggestions and I would argue creates higher order thinking skills.3 years ago

Transformation of Learning in Universities Through Online EducationWow, I think that this is a great slide, I would also add something about how the predominant work place interactions were face to face in the industrial revolution and how now it is computer to computer or Techno-personal/ Techno-centric type communication!3 years ago

Wikis in the ClassroomAccountability means that the teacher is empowered to go to websites and take their students "places" but that they are also held accountable for being vigilant monitors of their own classroom. The problem is that most teachers aren’t allowed full access to much of the internet and it stymies their ability to move forward into this type of teaching -- that is why accountability is essential.3 years ago

Wikis in the ClassroomGreat point! Good teaching has always been difficult and challenging but it is worth it! It is very rewarding and we as teachers are the ones who benefit. And we wonder why kids don’t retain what we want them to know when all we do is talk AT them!3 years ago

Wikis in the ClassroomCostly? Yes, it does take coordination (we work hard at that here) so that they are not overloaded, but often they learn better with a project. When I recall the things I’ve learned they are most often associated with a project not a test.3 years ago

Wikis in the ClassroomAuthentic assessment is a principle that means that you are truly assessing a skill or task -- for example, if you are an english teacher and you are testing on hyphens -- if you test on the rules of hyphenation -- you are not truly testing their ability to use hyphens. If you have them write or correct sentences with hyphens you are more authentically assessing whether they can accomplish the task. It is trying to get more at the actual thing that you are assessing rather than assessing how well they memorize.3 years ago
