  2. 2. Who We Are <ul><li>OPS is a non-profit organization that creates film, photography, and media educating and inspiring people to take action to save our oceans. OPS is best known for it’s Oscar winning documentary, The Cove. </li></ul>
  3. 3. SEAing a Need <ul><li>NEED: Our community needs to be educated and involved in ocean preservation! </li></ul><ul><li>Nearly 70% of our world is covered in oceans </li></ul><ul><li>¾ of Americans strongly agree that the oceans are essential to human survival, yet that’s as far as their concern, or understanding, goes. (Oceans for Youth) </li></ul><ul><li>In a survey, when asked 5 questions about basic knowledge on ocean preservation, 69% could answer no more then 2 questions correctly. (Oceans for Youth) </li></ul><ul><li>45% of Americans believe that what they do in their own lives doesn’t impact the health of the oceans. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Filling a Need <ul><li>GOAL: To educate as many people as possible about the ocean itself, to inspire them to take action, and to show them methods preventing harm to our sea. </li></ul><ul><li>How do we do that? </li></ul>
  5. 5. Programs <ul><li>The Cove is a documentary that was made to educate as many people as possible on the horrific events of whaling that are happening in Taiji, Japan. It has won over 70 awards globally. The main goal of The Cove is to inspire people to action and speak out about the injustices that are happening in our oceans. </li></ul><ul><li>The Cove project is educating the world through media of the documentary </li></ul>
  6. 6. Process <ul><li>To have more showings of The Cove </li></ul><ul><li>To show it in schools </li></ul><ul><li>To show it in public places </li></ul><ul><li>To show it as a TV special </li></ul><ul><li>To have more showings around the world </li></ul>
  7. 7. Inputs <ul><li>In order for this program to be successful it needs: -an estimated $250,000 to fly the staff around the world to show the film, to pay the staff, and for facilities for the showings. </li></ul><ul><li>-to buy airtime for commercials </li></ul>

Funding Just Think OPS -inspire through media -get people to take action through media -Has documentaries on their website to educate people -uses the documentary The Cove to educate people about the dangers in our ocean -Believes in organizations that use media to reach people -The Cove was viewed in over 70 countries
  9. 9. Outputs <ul><li>The number of people reached thus far are thousands. The documentary has been shown in over 70 countries. It will only increase as we fund this program to continue. </li></ul><ul><li>Unifying people to come together and stop injustices </li></ul>
  10. 10. Outcomes <ul><li>People will no longer be ignorant of the threats to our oceans. </li></ul><ul><li>There will be more people inspired to take critical action and save our dolphin population </li></ul>
