Dansettes
1.
2. The homepage for our fictional band ‘The Dansettes’ had to have
immediate impact, to achieve this we chose a striking natural
background to stay adhere to the conventions associated with this
type of band. The idea of the natural world was common in our
research of indie musical acts and we discovered that much of the
advertising around these bands would contain images of the natural
world.
3. The front page also included links and widgets associated with the band. A
Twitter widget was used to make the website look professional as the use of
social media is integral to establishing a band, especially a small
independent band which does not have strong advertising links.
A direct link to an online
vendor where the newest It was also required
album from the band can be that the band label
purchased, in this case we was displayed, and as
decided that iTunes would such ‘Rough Trade’ is

extremely easy for music to heavily associated with

our own.
4. The 2nd page in the website is the ‘Bio’ page, a page which was
created to show off the two members of the band. Knowing the band
members themselves is a common trend associated with indie bands
as discovered in much of our research. Bands such as Fall Out Boy are
popular because of this point, they are all known as individuals and
not a band the majority of the time.
5. The next page is the ‘Tour Dates’ page, this page was used to display the
upcoming tour dates for the band. As the majority of the bands revenue
comes from concerts, this page was vital. We kept the scheme of the
website the same for this page but with added schemes, we added a
tunnel effect which is in touch with the video itself. The page also has
links to 2 of the most popular online ticket vendors, making the website
even more authentic
6. This is the photos page, a page which allows the viewer to browse a
variety of photos associated with the band. This once again
reinforces the idea of the viewer being close with the band
members. The page also has reviews from popular music
magazines at the bottom, this was something which was present in
much of our research into websites used by other bands.
7. This ‘Blog’ page was required to further the idea of the viewer/fan
being closer to the band. The use of a blog allows the user to be kept
up to date with the band as they film or record etc. The blog also
contains behind the scenes photos which allows the fan to know more
about the operations carried out by the band.
8. This page is the ‘Record’ page, it is used to describe the record and any
previous albums or songs. This page was simply used to establish the band as
a pre existing entity rather than a new comer. A link was again given to iTunes
as after all the website is all about selling the artists.
9. Finally, this is the ‘Contact’ page. This is a way for potential investors or
even fans to communicate with the band, by making this communication
easy it once again reinforces the idea that any fan can have a close
connection with the band they love.
