The planned 2012 SummerOlympics will make London the first city to have hosted the modern Games ofthree Olympiads. London is the only city in the United Kingdom to have everhosted the Olympics; the United States is the only country to have hosted SummerOlympics on more occasions than the UK. No city in the UK has hosted the WinterOlympic Games. 2012 Summer Olympics The 2012 Summer Olympics are planned to take place between 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012. The London 2012 Olympic bid was announced as the winner of the bidding process on 6 July 2005. The planning for the Games is still ongoing, with many announcements and developments taking place.
